Noob question, can silver brass be reloaded?

great, thanks. I generally pick up anythign decent looking when cleaning up my own mess, just wasnt sure about the silver/nickel stuff.

Thanks again.

It can be reloaded just like brass casings. It's a piece of brass coated in nickel, doesn't last as long but it'll get the job done.

silver brass

Note that there are also CCI Blazer cases, which are a dull aluminum color (not shiney silver). These cases have NR, and to my knowledge, are not supposed to be reloaded (though no doubt, someone has done that)!

+1

NR stands for Not Reloadable. They are aluminum. You'll see them less and less, as I believe they stopped making them. Now they make CCI Blazer Brass, which has reloadable brass cases.

I think the aluminum-cased Blazer also has Berdan primers to discourage reloading.

As for nickel plated cases, I have reloaded lots for .38 Special.

As you resize a nickel case you will see scratches appear. The plating has been known to come off and cause scoring inside resizing dies. Not the end of the world, but worth noting.

Pretty much all my dad's 38spl brass in nickel. Only difference i found compared to brass case is it seems to have a little more resistance when resizing them in the carbide dies then brass ones do, but a little lube solves the problem.

There are also steel cases floating around from time to time but usually have a laquer coating on them. I've seen .45ACP steel boxer primed with the "Wolf" headstamp.

they can also be done, but you need cci's "special " tool
