NOOB question for LAR mags

Hi all, Just getting into black guns and bought a couple of plastic mag couplers from Questar. Just not sure how to take off base plates. I was told to stick a rod or such into the hole at bottom and slide base off. Problem is that the rod does not hit anything so still tension o base

Any ideas from the experienced here?

You have to gently pry the floorplate, then slide it. I found that using a screwdriver in the rectangular reset works well for me.
 
Gently pry and slide the plate forward. Be careful with the plastic couplers. Unlike the solid aluminum couplers from Dlask, the lips/edges of the plastic ones break very easily.
 
Like the others said pry the one edge up a little and slide them out the uncrimped side. Also as the others said the plastic ones do break, I wouldn't say easily but they do break. Get some black duct tape and tape the two mags together to prevent this. If you are only doing bench shooting shouldn't be a problem for you, but if you are doing action shooting and the mags are getting dropped from 3-4 feet above ground you will have a casualty at some time so the duct tape helps support the two. I have the same setup as you. Doesn't look pretty with the tape by function over fashion right!

Thanks all. Screwdriver on lip was all that was needed to pry and start it. I was careful with plastic base and so far so good!!

3 gun tourny on weekend so here's hoping my Norinco M4 due wed. actually shows up as Canada post says..... Got mags now all that's missing is a gun LOL

Yes they do. I found after it broke I just put it on the 2 5/30 round mags that came with my gun to make the appearance of a 60 round magazine. :p

It wouldn't slide on the LAR magazines very easily and that is how I broke it (wasn't even rammy with it) but the looser Norinco mags it went up smoother and still held in place. Now I just have it for more of a joke than anything as its not really practical and I have enough 10 rounders. After buying one of these I wouldn't buy a plastic one again as it broke after almost no effort.

Those DLASK ones look pretty cool and aren't super expensive considering they are metal and they give you the closest thing you can get to a 20 round magazine.
