Hi there,

I was taking a look through the forums but didn't find the answer I was looking for.

With an AR is it the lower that is the controlled/restricted? As in, if I were to buy a lower and at some point in the future they placed further restrictions on AR's and grandfathered in existing guns - if I just owned a lower would that count?

I plan on buying / building an AR but that would likely be a couple years away still, as there are some others above it on my wish list :) Buy if buying just a lower would meet any ownership status needed if grandfathering did happen, then I'd just buy a lower to sit on it for a while.

Thanks for the help/input!!

You are correct that the lower is the registered part but I wouldn't count on grandfathering being worth spit if it does go that way. My prediction is that even if they do "grandfather" people it would only be another year or two till they stop issuing ATT's, then you'll be just like the other guys that were grandfathered last time.
Ask the guys how awesome it was being grandfathered so they could keep them but never shoot them again. It's just a way out of compensating you for the property they let you keep and never use rather than confiscate.

This is all dependent on the Lib-tards getting another majority though.
Luckily for us if I read it right, the Libs have tried to add more stuff to it at a very late point in the game which gives the opposition a chance to have it thrown out because it's not what they had originally tabled, so it can't be pushed through now because they are breaking for summer and it needs to be re-read or voted on or something. I can't remember the exact wording that was used but that was the jist of my take from it.
All we need to do is vote the tards out and we could potentially get to relax and enjoy our sport a little longer.
