NOOB, riffle lenght question, anyone.

I am making a stock for my .22 The barrel is 16" long so the riffle is pretty compact. I 'm thinking of putting a telescopic buttock on it. So the question is , the legal lenght is 26" from the front to the end of the mainstock, or to the end which is the butt plate?

It's from the muzzle to the furthest rearward point of the buttstock, BUT if you make it so that it can still be fired when the overall length is shorter than 660mm, it becomes restricted, the same as a handgun.
