I was recently at a local gun store (forgot which one) and was told by a salesman in regards to a perfect all rounder to go pump even though I was after a semi because of the interchangeable barrels. Now I’m seeing an ad on this forum in classifieds for a mossberg 930 with interchangeable barrels on a semi auto which i thought wasn’t possible. So I YouTube searched it to no avail. What I was told is to buy two shotguns for what I’m after. I’m after one that would be a shorty as a backup for bear bow hunting(down the line) and home invasion and a long shotty for fowl hunting. If I can just buy a semi that I can easily swap from long to sht barrel what am I missing? Thx.

P.S. what’s the difference or benefit to rifled shotty barrels?

Thanks guys.

From my experience with shot guns, you can swap out any barrel - long or short - on both semi-auto and pump, so long as it's made for that particular model of shot gun.
The benefit of a rifled shot gun barrel is, considerably more accurate when using slugs. Will usually screw up your shot pattern, if you use it with shot shells.

Most semi and pumps all you do is open the action (to disengage the bolt locking lugs from the barrel) unscrew the magazine cap and then pull out the barrel. Different models can be different but for the most it's similar.
The 930 is a great shot gun but be ready it will eat ammo as fast as you can reload $$$
Reinstall barrel just insert barrel ( it may take some jiggling and working the action lightly) get it seated in place and screw on the magazine cap. Do a couple of full cycles of the action ( un loaded!!) . And your ready to go .
Some MAG fed semi's can be a bear to reassemble ( getting everything to line up and fall in to place) . Most if not all pumps are quite easy and straightforward .

Beat me to it !

Sweet. So even a stoeger m3000 could easily be swapped? Would a 930 then with the 18 and 28" barrels be kinda the best of all worlds Im assuming?

Longer barrels are easier to learn to track a moving target ( swing to get lead on a target ) and will help somewhat with recoil ( muzzle jump)more prone to be used for hunting and sport shooting. Shorter barreled guns ,easier to carry ( lighter, less likely to get hung up in under brush and branchers) more compact for storage and navigating tight arrears.20 to 16 in. For plinking/ blasting fun I prefer short barrels 12in and under .
