Noobe here. Dropped new shotgun bolt TWICE on the floor.

A shag rug is best. Cushions falls, and prevents small parts from bouncing all over the place.

Guntech, I'd hoped the smilie would indicate my own appreciation of the humor. And tossed in a bit of my own. I didn't see your post as being nasty in any way. But we gotta laugh at stuff like this too!

Ceramic tile would not be good in a place where stuff might fall. But neither would I want a rug of any sort that would hold stains from spills of oil or solvent. And if the area is used for reloading as well? There's more than one story I've read about such carpets causing a fire where normally the stuff it's made from would snuff out or just melt a touch where the dropped flame struck.

Nope, I'd suggest a cheap but easily cleaned laminate floor or vinyl planking. It can be swept and vacuumed easily and effectively and small parts can be seen easily. And if that's too cold on the feet then at most a low pile mat. Something NOT BLACK so when you drop small parts or small gun screws onto the mat they can be seen.

I was a meat cutter for 25 years. We do the opposite and automatically get our feet out of the way when a knife go over the edge. :)

I dropped a long pointy knife once and my automatic foot shot out to catch it... and it did... sharp point through my runners into the web between the big toe and the one next to it... not deep but it bled a little.

Dropping larger parts isn't the problem it's springs under tension that are the real issue, as it doesn't really matter what on the floor it's more of what is stacked against the walls.

For floors I go for the cushioned garage tiles as standing on bare concrete floors for a long time can be hard on the feet especially for us that are getting older.

Hi,

Cant find info on this in google.

I dropped my shotgun bolt twice (TWICE) on the floor while cleaning it.

It made me nervous. My guess is that it won't cause much problem. Unless you pros think otherwise? Just wanna make sure.

Thanks,

Pretty sure you could throw that down a stair case and it would still be alright.
