I was just looking at the Beretta CX4 in 45ACP (Are those even sold here in Canada, seeing as I have only seen 9mm's for sale?).

I was just curious, witha standard 230 gr. FMJ, assuming the subsonic speed of around 850ft/s, what range would we be looking at for the CX4, with the longer non-restricted barrel?

Like, would I be able to shoot 100 yards? or would the drop in hieght/energy be too great?

Reason I am asking, is that I am thinking of maybe acquiring one :p

I've seen lots in .40 but not in .45 , you won't have a problem at 100 yrds easpecially with a longer non rest barrel. The nice thing about the 9mm is you can use the .40 mags and put 12 (or 13?) 9mm rounds in the mag legally.

Oh cool, I didn't know that about the mags. As for the 45, I had my heart set on that, since I have a bunch of 45acp laying around (800 rounds of FMJ). I figured it would be nice to use that with something cool.

Now, to find someone with a CX4 in 45acp, nonrestricted, and willing to trade for stuff! haha

.45ACP is no longer in production.

.40S&W / 9mm are your only choices.

That being said, I love my 9mm CX4. ;)

The .45 CX4 (re-barreled non-rest) is extremely rare up here in Canada. I think I've seen exactly one on the EE. I was all nuts to get it... Until I saw the asking price.

Maybe I should resort to a one-off export from the US? I have an uncle down there who could help me out..I was planning on doing it for a Blaser R93 LRS2 (it was 2600$ for a .338 lapua; even with taxes/permits, it's a fortune cheaper than here).

Well I will keep my eyes peeled :p

What is the CHEAPEST I could expect to pay for either a .40/9mm here in Canuckistan in the EE?

Actually, they're back in production in .45 ACP. Check out P&D Enterprises - they've got brand new ones listed on their site.

I plink out 200m with mine in .40cal. As I understand it the mags for the .45cal version ae hard to find. I suggest getting it in .40cal and putting a non-restricted barrel into it.

Was just fondling one at a shop in Burford ON last night. chambered in .45 with the short barrel. Real nice ballance on it. It almost seems wrong having a modern ergonomic carbine with 10 round mags available.
He wants $1,199.00. for gun, 2 mags, sling and cleaning kit.
Hey anyone got $1200 I could borrow?:D
