So this past week i received my first 1911 (of course in 45) from another nutter, a Norinco 1911 Police model. (Thanks again if you happen to read this) I am thoroughly pleased and happy with my purchase. All steel, weighs a ton, built like a tank.

The only thing I am considering changing is the sights. I know the rear dovetail is whats known as a Colt dovetail. But what is the front dovetail? I can't seem to find out what cut it is. Anuone know?

Thanks guys.

It is an under sized dovetail. You or your gunsmith will have to cut it wider. Ask him what size cutter he has and buy a front sight to match.

If you want new sights, get Casey at Tacord in Newmarket to do them. He has cutters for whatever sights you want

Thanks for the tip dogzilla. He is pretty local to me. Will give him a call or drop by sometime.

just be prepared to wait a bit. He is a busy guy. I emailed in Dec and he was looking at Late Feb/March before I get my Norc in for similar work. In the meantime I pre-purchased the sights and other parts that I wanted installed.
