Norc 1911 question

I have a late model "Police" model with a dovetail front sight. I bought a Colt dovetail front sight. Dovetail is about .330" But the sight that came off the gun is narrower - about 0.250"

I thought the Norc duplicated the Colt, except for the the grip bushing thread.

Is there a different Colt model I need the sight from?

Is there some other brand/model pistol that uses the 0.250" dovetail sight I need?

I have installed a LPA adjustable rear sight. Need a taller front.

I just went through this with a Norc sport slide . I don't know why they went with a smaller dovetail unless they had a great deal on smaller sights.
I had bought a slide with the front sight missing. No problem I thought.

My solution was to increase the Norc dovetail to .330 to get away from this problem.
Spent a couple of hours Sunday evening with some small files. I bought a .330 Brownell sight from Epps on Sunday. It now goes into the resized dovetail. But it is really high. It will need some more filing to bring it down.
But I am staying with the stock rear sight.

With an adjustable rear it would be a lot easier to hit to POA.

Thanks. I thought I was missing something obvious.

Rodger Kotanko has advised me the standard procedure is to open the dovetail to 0.330". That would fit the two Colt sights I have.
