Norc 1911's any good?

The Chi-coms have attack subs and are building an aircraft carrier. If the Chi-coms will build small arms for rubes to buy, they will sell them to anyone including our enemies.
Wait till their chi-com low cost sh#t mobile cars arrive here for rubes to buy. Norinco is the manufacturing arm of the Chi-com army. Does our army sell guns?

 So nothing you buy is made in China then?

Oh, and IBTL! :runaway:

 So nothing you buy is made in China then?

Yes, there are a lot of things where you don't have a choice about it being made in China but you have the choice, here, when it comes to Norinco firearms. Excercise your freedom of choice and buy something else.......if your wallet doesn't allow you to have this freedom of choice then do what you have to......

I've had a few.... still own a couple...

Here's my odd ball .... I call it the "Norc-in-stein"....

NO, NOOOOOOOOOOO, not you NAA, the 1911 afficionado/guru....OMG, soon you'll be telling us you own also a 9mm 1911.... (not today, please. My old eyes have seen enough sacrilege from you today). :p :runaway:

Sheesh ...
This "I don't buy Chinese stuff" is getting pretty stale.
You got a computer?
Obviously you got a computer or you wouldn't be spouting all this anti-china BS here.

So where was your computer made?
more than likely it was made in China.

Grow up and smell the roses ...
the Chinese are willing to work harder for a dollar [ especially a US dollar ] than the Yanks or us Canucks. Especially the overpriledged younger yank/canuck kids, who grew up thinking the world owes them a living. We can't get enough kids to start in the trades ...
they are too smart, and know EI and welfare won't let them starve.

If you've got kids, enroll them in Mandarin Language classes because pretty soon they will need it to talk to their bosses.

PS: I've owned approximately 100 Colt govt model type pistols, from Detonics Combat Masters [ five of these ] to full race match pistols built by big name US custom pistolsmiths. I also built a few dozen IPSC pistols on stripped USGI 1911 and 1911A1 frames and slides. Sure the Norcs are rougher than some top of the line Govt model type pistols ... but I would put them ahead of many of the US GI rebuilds I started with.

It ain't always the parts, or where the parts came from, it is the way these parts were put together that really counts. Gunnar [ or any really competent smith ] can make a great pistol out of a Norc ... for a LOT less than a brand name version. And don't be surpised if the NORC ends up shooting just as good ... for a LOT less.

It ain't about the price, it is about the VALUE!!!

PS: Don't even get me started on the NORC M-14 rifles ...

wow you guys get really carried away with this anti-china debate. I like cheaper stuff and don't mind supporting some chinese producer with my dollar. I am sure one can make norc to shoot good after investing in match barrel and slide fitting and lapping and whatnot. But gunsmiths aside, production Tanfoglio Witness Custom in 45ACP (730$) puts everything in black at 20 yards off hand. I am good shot, yes, but same productin norc in 45 ACP (350$) will spit bullets all around black from the bench.

Yes, by all means buy Norinco products if you like them. But realize that North China Industries Corporation also sells arms and equipment to repressive governments and terrorists. There are alot of products where you may not have a choice but firearms is one product where choices exist. What you do with that freedom of choice is up to you. I won't 'dis' a Norinco product nor will I 'dis' a Norinco owner. I'm probably missing out on a good value but that's the choice I've made.

Yep, some guys take this anti-China debate too seriously and too much to heart. To each, their own....

The only Govt model pistol I currently own is a BUL M5.
Any one want to start bashing it because it was made in a different repressive totalitarian racist sectarian country ?

Or how about them Yankees ...
any one here want to say the Americans aren't another repressive totalitarian racist sectarian country?
Land of the free?
HAH!!
The Yanks just have a better press agent.

Personally, I am a LOT more worried about the Americans and their "war on terrorism" than I am about any others out there. I've had personal experience with that already ... like they took my wifes Knitting needles away on an air flight.Yeah, that is making the world safe for democracy.

Has anyone here tried to order gun parts from the states lately??.

The exact same gun parts that the Chinese will be happy to supply us with ... after all, they probably made them for the name brand US vendors any how.

That is really making the world safe for democracy.

How about we start boycotting AMERICAN products ...
they have tortured canadian citizens, just like the chinese?
What makes the Americans any better??

So how come we don't have Israeli gun bashing and US gun bashing??

PS: If you just want a reliable shooter, then a Gunnar tuned NORC would be the best value. For the level of expertise and skill he puts into inspecting and tweaking a norc, it is a genuine bargain.

If you are going to mess around, add parts, spend a lot of money, and end up with a mostly custom pistol anyhow, I think the best bang for the buck would be to start with the STI Spartan.

There is a lot of $$$ difference between these two, but that difference will get eaten up pretty quick, and will probably end up costing you more, one piece at a time, if you try to turn your Norc into a Spartan.
BTDT ....

which is why I bought the BUL ... it came stock with most of what I wanted to end up with.

Sorry, yeah it's true.... I happen to like the Norc 1911's.... (for what they are... ;))

Sorry, yeah it's true....

:D Nice looking NP-29...... The NP-29 would be the one Norinco product that can break my resolve. I can picture it with some nice sights and wood grips.

Laz,

FWIW, I agree with the points you've made about the US and Israel. When I did contract work in the US in the mid-90's. It was a pain to deal with their immigration and border guards every time I had to cross the border. Very protectionist and antagonistic people to deal with then and I can only imagine what it'd be like now. The experience left such a bad taste for me that I've never been back to the US but their governments didn't seize all the assets of my grandparents and force them to flee their homeland out of fear of persecution or imprisonment. This is the root of my bias. It may not be logical but "I ams, what I ams."

Oh please, not this "everything is made in China" #### again. Computer parts may be made almost exclusively in China, but many other things are not. As a consumer, you often DO have a choice, but of course you have to pay premium for things made by skilled workers who receive fair compensation for their labor.

It's attitudes like yours that are ruining it for the rest of us. Because of cheap ass bastards who only care about saving a buck or two, manufacturers of quality goods go out of business and all that's left is a bunch of low-grade chinese junk.

Grow up and smell the roses ...

What are you, some kind of a Chinese supremacist? This is Canada, no one's gonna force us to speak Mandarin here. Besides, Mandarin or not, your kids have no chance competing with the Chinese in the global economy - unless they are willing to work 20 hours a day and get paid 50 cents an hour (and if they are, that's not something to be proud of).

No offense, but if you think that America is a "repressive totalitarian racist sectarian country" you are extremely naive and have no idea what living in a real repressive totalitarian country is like. Or perhaps you just need to get your head checked.

It is time for Norinco to make a Mateba!

Mateba_Model_6.jpg

There are enough 1911 and cz clones in the world.

Collectors want unusual firearms so I would like to see Norinco start cloning unusual things. The mateba would be a good start but there are others...

Jesus, come on guys. If you want to bash each other; do so in a different topic, and don't pull any "you wouldn't know" kind of bull $#!% with me (sort of irrelevant, but i'm a canadian-born chinese; a banana.) because it seems that this one was originally meant for the Norinco 1911.

However, I think that the quality of the pistol might depend on the individual weapon. Mostly seeing as half of the people say that theirs are botched up, and the other half say that theirs are FAR better than higher brand name ones.

I think the 2 weeks is up and it is time for a NEW " Are the Norinco guns any good?" post. And we can start all over. Like I said earlier , IT IS JUST LIKE "GROUNDHOG DAY" the movie.
