so i got some magpul grips for my week old ar today, when i was putting them on i heard a crack and something moving around in the lower. I opened it up to find a small peice of metal broken off. It is the part that touches the safety selector. it apears the screw went a tad bit too far into the lower and snaped it off. my gun now has no safety. how do i repair this? what parts do i need and is it a hard job?

if you use magpul grips you got to use there screw. the stock ar screw is to long.

you might wanan check youtube if there is a video on replaceing the trigger.
 
Ordered a rock river arms 2stage match trigger kit. Did not want to spend 160 on the norinco but i figure its a part i can remove and put in anoter ar if i deciede to upgrade. Has anyone used one of theese triggers before? I am prayig they are easy to put in.
 
Dude - yer hooped. AR triggers can only be factory installed..you now have a Norc paperweight :)




Just kidding - its a simple swap, just take your time & use the correct sized punch, take care to properly place the trigger spring in the groove (a mistake I made & the pin kept walkiing out) - lots of info on the net.

Lol will do, now can i shorten the stock grip screw to use with the magpul grip or should i find another one?

That's the problem I am guessing.

Instead of shortening the screw, maybe try a couple of washers to see if you can get it work that way. Then if you decide to put the original grip back on you have a screw that is long enough.

Rock River triggers are supposed to be pretty nice. I personally like two stage but all mine are single.

To bad you were forced into it but you will likely be pretty happy with it. You might have to file the notch in the safety to accept the new trigger. Should be pretty obvious once you get it and start to install it. Not rocket science.
 
Try a friendly email to magpul.....after reading your story they might just send you a bolt!
And if they don't for some reason at least they can give you the specs so you can shorten yours....
 
I agree with Boliver, don't shorten the bolt (cut it). Most people will do this incorrectly and if your running a steel bolt in the aluminum lower you risk damaging the threads if the bolt was marred when you cut it. I would just source the correct bolt personally, or shim it.

Also the trigger will be a nice upgrade, although you could have just bought a Armalite one from wolverine for $15. At least now you will have a sweet two stage trigger you can move over to your next AR. :D
 
Well guys we are back in order. Rock river 2 stage national match trigger is now in ( had to relieve the safety notch a tad. Also put some washers on the grip screw and the magpul grip is on and plenty away from the triger. The job was not to bad, had to fight the hammer spring but it was so worth it. I suggest this trigger to everyone it breaks like glass and is around 3.5lb

if you still need the grip screw let me know. i got a magpul grip and i had to use the stock screw so i have the magpul one left over. if you want it let me know. its a slot not a key.
