Norc CQ Mag cutouts

So... whats with the dorky cutouts on the side of the standard 5/30 rd mags for the Norinco M4gerys? As if internally welded pins arent enough - is this to make sure your 6th round falls plain out?

I was in WSS the other day and asked them the same question and they had no idea... but i'm interested to hear if anyone has an answer.

The only cut out on mine is for the mag catch on the reciever to grab. Is that what you are talking about?

Yes, it's so the mag can't be tamperd with to hold more then 5rnd's

Haha, we stock these mags and the ones that came with the guns had no cutouts the extras we ordered did. I got lots of questions about the cutouts and the 6th round thing was the only logical answer.

If you put more than 5 the bottom round will be pushed into the cutout and stick there, jamming the mag. It's actually quite effective but I don't like the huge cutout in the mag, it's just a big open window for crap to get inside.

Mine got jumped up and down on. That design with the hole is useless if you ever let your mags drop free at the range. They scoop up crap every time that gets into everything. Aftermarket mags are the way to go for the Norinco M4ergy.
