Norc inline?

"Norc" (Norinco) Is a Chinese Co. Their guns are priced cheap. Myself I wouldn't touch one with a 20ft pole. But to each his own.
 
I'd love to see one in person.

I don't feel a burning need for an inline muzzle loader, otherwise I'd part with the $99 that they are selling for, on a crapshoot basis.

The Norc stuff I've used has been rough around the edges, but functional, and well worth the money (at sale prices like that) even if it took a little bit of massaging to get some of the edges smoothed.
May well be crap, but the price is low enough that if it turns out better than crap, it's a bargain.
This place is full of posts from guys that paid a lot of money for guns that turned out to be crap, too, when they had paid for "not crap".

Several years ago I picked one up because it looked like it might be a "fun" little rifle to play with. On first cleaning (before shooting it) I noticed a ring about 1/2 way down the barrel. It turned out there was a little bulge in the barrel so, back to the dealer it went.

The replacement had no bulged barrel, but the stock ended up getting split during the second range session. Turns out that the front sling stud and the screw in front of the trigger guard each screw into a threaded cylindrical component attached to the barrel. These, it turn, acted like a wedge to split the stock during recoil.

Then there was the breach plug that progressively got harder (then eventually became impossible) to unscrew... It was pretty obvious that there was something "not right" with the rifle.

Bottom line? I would not own or shoot another one of those in-line BP Norcs.
 
I have seen one in person the finish on the barrel is not bad but that is where it ends bolt trigger group is crude I would buy a decent used Knight Thompson Etc before I would buy Norinco ml. But thats just my opinion and your resale value is going to suck the new one sat in the local hunting store here for 2 seasons before someone bought it. a used Gonic sold before it you could tell by looking at the Norc . that it was poor quality. Buy the best you can afford and you will be happy.

Just picked one up, I want to try deer hunting this year with a muzzle loader. But the only thing I know about it is its a Norinco M986 .50 cal. The owner of the shop was gone for holidays so I don't know anything about it! Any help I can get would be great.

What type of caps and loads do I use? Also the display model at the store said DO NO DRY FIRE, i guess the firing pin is damaged if there is no cap in?
