I know there was a thread awhile ago on this but nobody seemed to have a straight answer, Mine came with one mag and if that breaks the rifle is pretty much toast. So does anybody know which aftermarket mags with fit? Even if I have to do a bit of trimming I'm ok with that. I would like to get more than a 10rd mag aswell. Thanks!

Marlin magazines can be fitted for use in JW-14. Reports vary on ease, but my own experience was pretty straightforward. I fitted a hi-cap promag to work in a JW-14. Steps involved fitting the magazine to magazine well:
i) I had to remove some material all 'round magazine top to get it to fit into magazine well.
ii) Modify where the magazine hasp catches magazine. On my example the promag had a full width catch but JW-14 has a narrower hasp so I had to change that to look like the JW-14 catch (the edges of the catch were sanded smooth to magazine body leaving only a centrally located catch **pictures are worth more than 1000 of my words so I'll try to snap some**)

On the rifle itself I had to inlet the stock around the magazine well so the promag could fit flush to reciever. Less than 1/4" of wood removed all around the magazine well.

I haven't any steel Marlin Mags floating around to check what would be required. I also have suspicions that Squires Bingham magazines might fit, but am fresh out of those too.

You can also purchase replacement magazines specifically for the JW-14. I purchased one from SFRC, but they show out of stock on their site currently. There may be other dealers with them.

Canadian Tire in Sussex, NB is selling both metal and plastic 10 Rnd mags at 18.99 a piece. There is 5 metal in stock right now. Others have not been able to get them at their local Canadian Tire. As I done for others, I am prepared to go and buy them for you if you cannot get them locally. I charge a flat 26 bucks per mag with taxes/shipping included in the price. I will give you the sales receipt so you can return the mag locally if you change your mind. Cash/MO up front before I buy. PM me. If mag is out of stock when I receive your money I will contact you and let you decide on refund (less postage) or wait for re-stock. They restock these on average every 3 months at about 20 pieces at a time. They are very popular, I have 14 plastic ones.

Appreciate the response lads, I think I'm gonna pick up some of the promags might aswell make use of the no mag restrictions in rimfire!

I have one and discovered quite by luck that my Marlin 25 rnd clear plastic mags will fit, but would need a wee bit of thinning where they fit in the mag housing. Marlin shiny steel mag was a no go.

Edit: Now look what you made me do! :) I ordered another one. The one I have has that painful reddish barn stain. I like the look of the new batch.:cool:
