Norc JW-27

I just bought one last month.
It's my first .22 rifle. I've shot mostly .22 pistol in the past and am just getting back into the sport so I don't have anything to compare it to.

For $130.00 new you can't expect too much.
I've put a cheap 22 Bushnell scope on it and it is reasonably accurate (more accurate than me right now)
I'm still sighting it in.

If you do some web searches you'll find a bit more info on it. It is supposed to have the same bolt action as the JW-15 which is apparently a copy of an older Brno.

Anyway I'm having fun with it. And I'm already starting to save for a "better" .22 rifle.
Whether I should have waited a few more months and spent $400 for that better rifle is hard to say. Right now I'm shooting my own rifle and enjoying it.

Time spent shooting is seldom wasted...;)

Thanks for the words of wisdom cyclone.

I'm starting to remember that teqnique and practice are just as important as the equipment we have.

Once I can translate what I can shoot off the bench to what I can shoot off hand then maybe it's time to upgrade? It's just fun for me right now.

How do you know when it's time for a more precision rifle and that it will hit where you're aiming it? :)

Not to be flippant, but around the same time that you start to think you can shoot better than your existing rifle, and start to notice - really notice - things like trigger-pull weight/length, rifle-balance, and other finer points.

Or, when you handle a more precise rifle at the range and become enveloped with that "I've got to get one" feeling. :D It happened to me with the R-55, and now I'm saving up to buy one of my very own....

Anytime - and thanks for enduring my endless ranting...:)

shoot rifle from benchrest - that will give you an idea how accurate rifle itself is. Loan it to someone who knows how to shoot if you still doubting your own skills. Borrow someones proven match-winning rifle with owner's ammo and see if your score improves. Megabucks spent on rifle will not buy you shooting skills, I learned it from my pistol shooting. On the other hand, you may never know how good you are if your rifle shoots shotgun pattern at 20 yards.

Excellent response! :)

...and my pistol-shooting is still...a work in progress...
