I have a spare Norc m-14 stock I'm thinking of trying to make into a M14E2 style stock.

I think this should be relatively easy, what do you think?

Start with standard stock

Cut on the white lines

The pistol grip connector peice will go here, note the raised position of the butt

Drill all three peices for connecting dowels, and counter sunk screws

The dowel

End result might look like this

Might also drill from the butt plate to better attach to the grip peice.

What do you think?

GREAT IDEA... but been there done that and was NOT happy. the chu wood is just too soft for a stock with any kind of lifespan. 8 or 9 boxes of ammo in she was starting to seperate.

Now, if you did that with an "in need of refinishing" walnut stock..... you'd be on to somethin for sure

great to see guys gettin creative, thx for sharin ;)

If you are going to do it, there is a construction adhesive called, I believe, PL2000, comes in a caulking tube. Incredibly strong. You will have to break the wood apart to separate it. Edit: Even better, PL Premium construction adhesive. You can get this a home depot.

x2 on the PL products...... good schticky schtuff :D

I think i finally have all the tools i need to start workin on a wood project. A while back i picked up a big hunk o black walnut, it's stock blank material. Sizing it up with one of my custom pistol grip glass stocks, and i could probably cut 2 blanks big enough to mill out in the e2 shape. Now.... I ask myself...... do i really want to add another project to the to do list :D :D ..... hmmm. off to the work bench i go :D . I think a newly made wood pistol grip stock would look sweet, whether it's one piece or fabricated from a chopped stock.

keep us posted on you project for sure ;)

Best thing in the world you can do is experiment on Chu wood:DSome really fine stocks have come from those experiments. To name a few, me:), 45ACP, Laz, and others.

Let your imagination be your guide. I've done 20 or so and am still looking for better ways to do it.

But, you know what? If you have the time and patience, nothing is more satisfying than doing it yourself and showing it off.

I say go for it and show it off..............Al
