Theres a Norinco M14 for sale at my local gun shop with no markings whatsoever except for a serial number on the side of the receiver. Does anyone have any info on these M14s? Hows there quality?

The answer to the question you asked will be accurately and efficiently answered by Different.

The answer to the question you didn't ask is "If there is an M-14 for sale, you need to buy it."

Hope this helps. :)

If it has a series of digits that look like a date rather than a serial number like this has

Then this area looks stamped but nothing on it

I have one and it has never given me a problem. Its chinese for sure, as Different said mostlikely a CAI import. He can elaborate more than me on this gun. But if its at a good price pick it up.

Does it have the bayo lug?

To get back to the OP's original question....

If it is a Norc, there should be a serial number on the left side of the reciever, underneath the rear sight.

Typically, the first 4 numbers of that serial number refer to the year of manufacture (mine has 2009---- as a serial number).
