Hello everyone,
I am new to the AR world and just purchased one of these Norinco AR clones. What's a good, reliable scope that will work well, but not break the bank?
Thanks,
Geoff

How much are we looking at? I'm considering 3-gun matches and playing at the range, not real life situations where cost is not really a consideration.

What distances are you shooting at? Do you need/want magnification?

For 3-gun and range plinking find an Aimpoint or Eotech. You don't need a "scope".

I have posted this elsewhere but Le baron hunting supplies on the eastcoast are selling bushnell holosights for $245. Holosights are nearly identical to the eotech with a little less durability, from what I have researched.

Theres different models of holosite. The current models (http://bushnell.com/general/riflescopes_holosight_51-0023.cfm) use the same electronics as Eotech. Main difference is that they lack the armor that Eotechs have.

Mine has worked great for range fun & carbine matches for 3+ years.

I believe the one in the bushnell link is the same one they are selling at le barons. I bought one. How is the casing on this model? Doesn't bushnells warranty cover it if it's dropped and say cracks, or is that purely user error.

I am planning on getting one of these norcs, what do you guys think about a fixed power scope?

A cheap, low magnification fixed power would be a good bet if you wanted to concentrate on further distances (200-500m). A good option would be the Millet DMS-1. It's not fixed, but the illuminated reticle, combined with the 1-4x would make it a good choice for CQB type matches as well as engaging targets out to further limits of its capabilities. Believe that Falcon makes a low powered variable as well. Throw it in a cheap offset mount like the Armalite one piece and call it a day.
