On Monday I got my new Norinco M4 supplied by Badger Supply. It had only light oil on it, so it cleaned up easily. Finnish looks just fine. I am going to shoot it, not fondle it.

On Wednesday night I took it to the pistol club and tried it with my Colt 22 kit. It worked perfectly. The second round did not fire, but the next 298 were just fine. I am lucky. At 25 yards the group was about a half inch low left. I adjusted the sights.

Tonight I fired some ammo over a Chrony. Winchester white box ammo (55gr FMJ) is 3,000fps. My handloads were 2675. I tested loads as low as 2400 fps and they still cycled and ejected just fine. For CQB at 20 yards I don’t need full power ammo.

Tomorrow I hope to pick up a 1.5-5 X shotgun scope and a set of see-through rings (to raise scope to a comfortable height). I should be able to fire a shot or two to get a rough zero before heading up to the range.

So far I am delighted with the rifle. It shot Hi-vel and stnd vel 22 ammo, and handloads ranging from 20 to 25 gr of 3031.

I will be testing my new CQ this saturday using whatever I can get to feed it for cheap. Finnish is not great, and the handguards are a little tough to get off but so far I am very happy with it. All I need to do is fire it.:)

OK. I shot the Borden CQB today with the Norc and the new shotgun scope (shorter range parallex). The two worked very well. Rifle never missed a beat. The shooter seems to have mulitple thumbs, but that another story.

The scope is raised above the flat top with just cheap see thru rings. Works well.

This was the first time I shot any M4. The mag changes and bolt release system makes it faster than the SKS and 858 and M1 Carbine I have used in past matches.

With the scope so high above the boreline, the POI shifts with each ditance by a noticable amount. I zeroed it so that at 25 I aimed at the lower part of the bull and at 15 yards aimed at the white half. this seemed to work. At one match I managed 10 bulls on one target and 9 on the other. This is an easy rifle to shoot.

The biggest mistake I made all day was dry firing a rifle equipped with a Rock Rifle 2 stage trigger. Instant hard on. I wonder if it would fit the Norc? I see a warning that it woun't fit a Colt because of pin diameters.
