Just a friendly warning to all the old schoolers in this forum that are prolly raging when ever they see another Norc thread in their once Chicom free forum.
I wanted to start a thread for all the new Norinco CQQ-a (or cq models) M4 clones. Go ahead and post a few pics and a range report if you have one.:ar15:
I know Cbabes and Mystic and others have pics in various other threads so lets get one giant thread going.

I don't have a range report as the only time I shot on paper was when I was doing some 50 yard open sight ammo load testing. The rest of the time has been on plates and such. I am only 300ish rounds in but no mis-fires or jams to report yet.
I really like the NCstar quick detach scope mount too. I picked it up for FAB. I have swapped between the scope and the handguard at the range just to see if they hold zero and it works great.

I still have a YHM free floating handguard to install but don't want to fight with it till maybe this winter sometime.

OK. I will play. :p I am only at about 300 rounds with my M4 as well. Not one complaint or failure. Here are some pics from when I first cleaned it and then when I changed the forend and sights.

fit and finish aside, how does it shoot compare to an "north american made" 14 inch AR?
i am looking into buying one.
How does the trigger feel, and accuracy in compare to let say.. a north american made AR with the same barrel length?

look up cbabes past posts - he has some photos of his targets at 50 yards from yesterday and they are pretty good!

it's not a long distance, pin point accuracy firearm anyway - from what I have read it's just as a good as the other ARs, whereas most of it will come down to the shooters skills anyway

Last piece of the puzzle showed up yesterday so will have pics up.

The good, the bad and the ugly :)

Here are some to get the party started...

PS accuracy is min of golf ball at 40ish yds and clay pigeons are in deep trouble at 100yds. Min of dot sight at 200yds is a no brainer.

so yes, my Norc M4 shoots as well as can be expected from this class of battle rifle.

All using ARMSCOR 62gr FMJ's, WC735 powder, CCI 450 primers, Fed brass loaded on a Lee 1000 progressive.

Trigger can be made to work very well but mine came with a real 3 stage trigger --- scary. Now a very nice single stage pull, hint of creep with little overtravel. If I can lighten the pull more, I'm all smiles but it rocks the way it is now.

You finally gave up on those dreaded pins and brought out the cutter. :p I noticed your forend grip is closer to your mag than mine. I think I will try that as most either hold on to their mag while shooting or use a very close forend grip.

I guess my post on the surgery is not on the main page. yes, I got out the cutter quite early on. The amount of force needed was not something I felt comfy doing.

Way better with a cut off wheel then with a sledgehammer. It sounds much worse then it was. Cutting is simple and just takes some care and attention to do well.

Those pins are in for good. At least sans sledgehammer.

Same with the barrel nut. I destroyed an armourers tool trying to get it off - the splines on the tool and barrel nut were bent after the amount of force I put on it. Given this was torqued onto an alum receiver, that is some good alloy.

Yes, there was assembly lube on the receiver threads after cutting the nut off.

Somebody overseas needs to back off their torque settings about 1/2.

Happily, the US parts installed without a fuss so the specs are definitely correct.

Yes, I don't like to hold onto the mag well - too close and most put their front grips too far out for how I like the rifle to balance.

The grip is just far enough so that I can open the upper and the grip does not hit the mag well. That worked out nicely.

Gives me a comfy hold and the norc balances nicely in the left hand so I can finesse the trigger.

ive been looking at these rifles for quite awhile, now im pretty convinced i need one.

I really think they are the best value out there right now for anything firearm related. I have heard the metal used is excellent quality. Now with Mystic Precision's testimony it looks to be true.

It just feels tight when you handle it and shoot it.

I love just taking it out of the safe and fondling it! :p

Just make ARs unrestricted again, please. :)

I'm happy with mine. After some guess work, I managed to hit the 300 yard gong with my last 6 rds 3 out of 6 times with open sights. Not sure if that is good since I'm a noob and I don't like open sights. I'm going to buy a scope soon.

Anyone know what type of bipod to buy for stock Norc M4?

A New Attitude

Being a Colt, CZ, Beretta, and Wilson Combat guy I found it tough to consider the Norinco at first, but reviews were good and then I went and handled one at P&D here in Edmonton. Dealing with a local store rather than over the internet cost a few more bucks, but allowed me to take a close look at it and to try a few triggers before buying. I have to say the trigger in mine is very good and will get better with use.

Phil from P&D suggested the rings and after learning about my proposed use he also suggested the 1-4x Millett rather than the more expensive 1-4x Trijicon I had in my hand. The thing is a ton of fun and shoots great (perfectly reliable so far and tight groups off the bench at 100 yards). It's my first AR and a great way to join the club....
