Norc M4 #### thread <3. (Beware, Chicom guns ITT)

My new (to me) Norc.

I have the standard CQ modle of Norinco and have not had any problems yet. It has actually surprised me a bit, straight out of the box and quick clean I've been able to hit 10''x10'' plates at 350 yds. The only problem I have had with the rifle is one spot an inch back from the chamber where the powder coating must of had a bubble, and chipped off. The rifle works as it did before and the more rounds I put threw it seems to smooth it out.

Perfect excuse to get it coated!

Here is my M4. With the new NEA rifles coming out, if you want to have a quad rail and spice up your m4, dont use the norinco. I had to cut my front sight, and file a lot of parts to make them fit. Also had to replace the handguard cap. She was a pain, but I'm happy with the rifle now. Just too much effort. If the NEA ar-15 doesn't suck, buy it over upgrading an m4 norinco.

I got mine to shoot CQB. I tried a SKS and a 858 but I could see that mag changes were much smoother withthe AR platform.

Mods to date:

Floated the barrel. Kit from Brownells was only $39 and it installed easily.

Rock River match trigger. About $100. What a joy!! Best mod I made.

Hogue rubber pistol grip. Feels much better.

Instead of a riser I used high see-through rings. $9.00

Tasco 4X scope (Post reticle) $17 on ebay.

Muzzle brake. Gift from my son. It is supposed to reduce muzzle jump. I suspect it works because I now shoot rapid matches as a series of double taps.

Doubled mags. Glued together on a piece of wood and wrapped with tape. Worth a few seconds on a mag change.

I have about 1000 rouns through it now. In the beginning I was not cleaning the bolt inside the carrier and it started to jam. Better cleaning has made it 100% reliable.

Accuracy is not as good as my other AR-15 rifles (Colt and Olympic). Floating the barrel made no difference. But it was bought for CQB and I am getting good results with it. I am getting a kick out of being competititve with a rifle/sight set up that costs less than half of most of the other rigs on the line.

I put on the Vortex Sparc and AFG recently , It looks like the front sight will 1/3 co-witness but I still need a flip up rear sight .
The CAA cheek piece on the Buttstock gives a good cheek weld , The Sparc is a good addition for this rifle.
I had a vert front grip on it before but prefer the AFG .
I picked up an original pistol grip for it and I think I will put it on as it should look better than whats on it.

Can anyone show me how to install the norc sling on ar.........thanks

The best way to deal with the Norc sling is to hold it in your strong hand, walk to the nearest waste recepticle, and release it into the recepticle. Then get a sling that works from one of our fine sponsors. Seriously, if you try to use that thing you'll end up with one of 2 things, an injury from the rifle striking you somewhere delicate, or a headache from trying to figure out what the hell this piece of hardware is attached at that angle on the wrong side for. One Shot sells Vickers.

I've got a 10 1/2 upper - haven't really got enough rounds through it to make reasonable comment about it from a reliability stand point. It fired it's first 100 rounds without issue. I have it on an Armalite lower with a carbine buffer. Seems to be very smooth and very accurate - steel plate at 200m no problems with irons. One thing I will say - the 10 1/2 uppers are ugly - the finish rivals the worst finish from the first generation CQA-556's.

I have a complete 10.5" and so far it has been terrible, i replaced springs and am gonna test it out next Sunday. I really hope it is a spring issue and all will be well in the universe.

Can you clairfy/explain what has been terrible about it? I'm on the fence if I should go with the 10.5" vs. 14.5"

Thanks.
