Norc NZ 85B Info

If you are going to try to interchange 9mm and 40, don't do what I did. I accidently tried to use it in a match. NFG!

That would be embarrassing! Did they work alright at the range before hand? I'm thinking the lips at the top will need to come in just a bit, as the 9 mm would be 1 mm smaller, possibly tending to sit too high or popping out at the wrong time.

My experience with cz mags is: Some work perfectly in the nz and others require a small mod to the mag catch (about a 1mm enlargement of the catch on the mag upwards)....i did one but i cant remember if it will hold the slide open or not on empty...i will run the experiment again when my next shipment of ammo arrives and report back to this thread.

NOTE: I got my cz75 mags from corwin (sponser so i think its ok to mention names) and they are made in italy so i am presuming some type of mecgar unless someone knows better.

Out of the 5 i purchased 3 fit and worked and one i modded and the other i havent tried yet. It is almost impossible to see any differences with the naked eye before modding the mag but i did the mod and it worked. I did that one by hand with a small file but got a dremel from santa (cutest you ever saw) for xmas so i will try that on the other mag if needed.

When fitting stuff like mags and slides, I spot them in with a tracing agent. I use red-lead (works on both dark finished metal and chrome or bright metal) Lightly coat your a portion of the mag, insert, then pull it out, and it shows you exactly were the interference is. For slide clearance I will use a mini-die grinder, but for mags and other small parts that only require a tiny bit of material removal (even in tool and die) a file gives more control. For harder stuff, diamond files and hand stones.

No.

I have CZ or NZ in both calibers. The mags look the same. I took a handful of mags to a match, and one of them was a 40. It loaded ok but would not function in the 9mm pistol.

There's a ton of used CZ-75 pistols on the market right now for $500.

That's not much more than the price of a Chinese clone that may or may not work.

The NZs work, those cheap CZ-75 are great for the most part, but like any surplus firearm, they are older, and some may not have been pampered the way they should.

Bought one years ago and never, ever were able to make it work. Its a paperweight in my safe now. Marstar fixed it the first time, when it broke the second time it was out of warranty.
The firing pin was breaking all the time, Marstar even gave me few extras.
Here's a video I made years ago about the last problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bvobBBQwuU

In my NZ I run tanfoglio, mec-gar, CZ and Norinco mags with no issues. I may even have an IWI marked mag in the mix too

I recently had a similar problem develop, except my hammer would fall and lodge on the half-#### position; Canada Ammo swapped me a brand new pistol, and no problems thus far.

My understanding is that Norinco grip screws are a ‘proprietary’ thread...sure I spelt that wrong...lol

Yes, metric; and larger diameter too. I put CZ75 rubber over molded grips on mine, and had to drill out the screw hole. Also the screw head is a bit larger, so i cleaned out the rubber flash in the bottom of the screw recess. Fit was secure and perfect! What a difference! Single best upgrade you can do to it!
