Got my Norc 1911A1 .45 a few weeks ago. Love how it shoots and it feels solid. The finish, as most of you know, leaves a lot to be desired (rough around the edges with tooling marks). I am trying to decide on how to re-finish this gun: re-blue, parkerize, armacoat, nitron, etc. I have never re-finished a gun before and just want to have suggestions and thoughts on durability of these finishes and which one you would choose and why? Thanks!

Unless you're prepared to do a lot of hand polishing to remove the tooling marks rebluing or parkerizing is a waste of time as you'll just end up with what you started with. Some of the spray & bake finishes do an excellent job of covering up minor tooling marks & imperfections, are very resistant to wear and available in a wide variety of colours. And if the finish happens to get a scratch or chip respraying is very easy. Ceracote and Duracote both have very good reps but I'm sure some of the others are excellent as well.
