Norc SKS

Like the Scarecrow said. I think the bad batch of SKS's is long gone and probably won't happen again. It was that one batch that gave SKS a sour reputation for awhile.

A lot of fun. Everybody should have at least one (or 5). The ammo has been really really cheap but it is a bit scarce right now. Hopefully a lot of new ammo will come into the country soon.

So if i were to order one from marstar tomorrow (not in stock now ) would it be ready to shoot right outta the box?

I would i have to strip her down and blow dry it?

You'll need to take it fully appart and clean up all the cosmoline and stuff on it, buy after that its a great gun. I just got mine for 165 and a crate of ammo for 170 and its a damn fun gun to shoot. Dirt cheap ammo, reliable and really fun. Its not a AR-15 or a high priced rifle, but its fun as hell.

MilArm currently has some.

I don't now how they come from marstar. When I got mine from lever it was pretty clean already. It's really easy to strip it down so it's worthwhile anyway. Brake cleaner works well to remove any leftover grease or cosmoline. One thing to do for sure is clean the bolt before firing. The firing pin must be clean and dry. No oil on the pin. A good rule of thumb is to have the firing pin rattle in the bolt if you shake it. That'll help prevent slam-fires.

Ill take a quick look at milarm.

Whats the difference in all the sks models i see on here (non-restricted ones)?

Pullens in Victoria also has some, and he will work on them if something is amiss.
I was about to get a second SKS, but I fell in love with a 14" Norinco shotgun I saw here that came up for sale.
:D

Wheres Pullens in Vic?

Well worth the price. I started off with a Norinco Type 56 and eventually moved up to the high priced black rifles, and now I'm paying more for tiny accessories than an entire SKS rifle.

X2 on that! The SKS can't be beat for plain old fun. But once you get hooked to semi automatics,....Look out ...and bring your wallet!!

Yeah, already hooked. We have a ruger mini-14 thats pretty accurate (shoot bowling pins at 75 yards).

About the slam fire. Does it happen often with the sks if the bolt is not cleaned?

Never heard about this.... are we talkin' SKS-D's? How do you identify and SKS that was part of the bad batch? What was going wrong with them?
