Everything checked out
-greased well
-gas hole lined up

then I did the tilt test...FAIL!!! It looks like the op rod is catching on the
barrel.

should I file this spot down? any advice would be appreciated
thanks

Is there any chance that the oprod is bent or out of spec? Hard to see in your pics how much contact it is making there.

Other more knowledgeable people will be along shortly, but for now, put the file down and step back from the rifle. :D

Yeah, I've done a bit of filing there in the past... Not very often. Once I had a Douglas barrel Heavy NM installed on an M1 Garand receiver. My coach just told me to relieve it with a file, and life was good to go! Nothing fancy!

Thats was his advice back then. Frankly, I would like to SEE and feel it for myself.

Hope this helps,
Barney

Hey guys,
So I marked the spot on the barrel with black marker and then put on the oprod
And worked it. It left an obvious spot in the marker where it was catching. The
Spot was way smaller then I thought. Then I filed it and sanded, checked, filed and
Sanded a bit more. Now it feels way smoother. When I do the tilt test it comes to
With-in an eighth of an inch from all the way back. I didn't wanna get to file happy
So I stopped there. I'll throw some rounds through it this weekend and I think it'll
Be good.
