Just looking for some opinions. I'm planning an m14 build with all USGI parts and I am wondering if an LRB receiver is worth the cost and the trouble to import it. Anyone out there that owns an LRB want to comment? Thanks fellas.
:runaway:

I am taking the plunge. I've built and serviced a couple of them.
I would opt to build on it rather than import one of their pre assembled offerings.
Dimensionally and cosmetically the receivers are outstanding.
The m25 built in scope rail is the catsass.
Yes, they are expensive but with decent scope mounts adding 250 plus, the cost of the M25 is a "bit" easier to swallow.
LRB offer the only u.s. Made hammer forged receiver availlable to us canucks and a bonus is, unlike our norcs and polys, having an LRB makes it possible to go to matches in the US
I just placed an order and will be anxiously awaiting it's arrival :D

I was hoping you'd persuade me of that Tom. Thanks!
I'm on the wait list for an lrb already...just needed some justification to throw at the wife.:D I think she'll appreciate the fact that "Dimensionally and cosmetically the receivers are outstanding" Maybe?? Maybe not??

Listen to the Dr ...
he knows what he is talking about. He probably has more experience with the Chinese AND the LRBs than any one else in Canuckistan.

I personally am a cheap bastard and would build on a Norc ...
but if you got the $$$ and the time to wait for it to clear customs,
and especially if you want to travel to the US with it,
the LRB would be the receiver of choice.

You can't even begin to explain the quality difference between the two. The LRB M25 is gorgeous and with the integral scope mount you won't have a problem with a mount coming loose during a match - ask me how I know this

I'm going the route of building my own and am just about to send the whole works to a gunsmith for him to cut the chamber, screw it together and coat the whole works in milspec black. Should have it back in a month or so.

If you can wait and afford it get one....you won't be disappointed.

They have cast recievers coming out this year. They will be half the price.

This is the current look of the rifle as I'm about to pack it up in the shipping box.

Specs:

LRB M25 receiver
Krieger DMR medium contour barrel 1in10 twist (thanks Obtunded!)
H&R USGI trigger set to 4.5 lbs
TRW bolt
TRW oprod
USGI forged flash hider opened to NM specs
USGI stock with cheek riser and rubber butt by M14Doc (steel is great for smashing but sucks for matches)
Unitized gas assembly
SEI piston, bolt release and scope rings
Fulton Armory hand guard
Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40 scope

Getting a match chamber cut for it and its only going to eat handloads of 168SMK. Might experiment with 155's but I've got a "few" 168's so those will do

Pretty sweet set-up. How's you get a hold of the fulton armory handguard? I thought they didn't deal to anybody north of the border.

Been playing with these things for a while now and parts weren't that hard to get way back. The worst guy to talk to before he took off to Maui was Gunsgirlsandfastbikes - M14 crack dealer :D

I say get one, now that you'll have that 18.5" barrel it'll be a sweet setup;) I've had the Norc and Springfield receivers but the LRB is in a class of it's own with regards to dimensional accuracy and cosmetic finish.

Thanx for that wonderful LRB/Criterion barrel BTW ;)
Soon she'll be threaded to an LRB receiver, fit up the usgi parts stash.... And hopefully when I'm done I'll have my perfect rifle LOL
Until I decide I need and must have something different.
Perhaps build a norc with a Hart heavy barrel, more usgi crack and a newly designed sniper system modular stock hmmmmm ... There really is no cure is their??
