CGN,

Just got my Norc 213. Wanted to know if it's ready to go right out of the box or is there anything I should do to it before taking it to the range?

WARNING: Extreme Newb when its comes to pistols.

Thanks

The oil in it is for rust prevention. Take the slide off abd wipe off all the parts, inluding a patch through the barrel. The hammer assembly lifts straight out. This should be swished in some Varsol, or squirted with lighter fluid to get the heavy oil out and then lubed with a light oil. I use Brake Free (CLP).

Mine gives me 100% ignition with handloads but misfires a bit on military ammo with the heavy primer cups.

Give it a really good spray cleaning with brake cleaner. There is alot of grit inside these pistols. Make sure you remove the trigger group as mentioned.

Once it's fully flushed use your favorite gun oil to lube her up.

Proper cleaning of new guns is pretty standard. Check out some good links that lead you to youtube where you learn how to disassemble your gun. Clean it, oil it , and you are good to go.

Clean the #### out of it, literally.

Careful though, I don't know if I was screwing something up, but there was this spot on my finger that would always get torn open from the edges. They are sharp, thats for sure.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm probably just going to take it into my 'smith. I was never any good at putting lego together as a child, so I doubt ill be any good trying to put the pieces back together on a Chinese pistol.

I love this quote though, "Do not do hurdle race with loaded pistol", on the manual.

It's really really really easy to take apart. Don't waste your money getting a gunsmith to do it for you.

Watch this video. Very easy to follow instructions.

After you have all the parts out get some Simple Green cleaning solution. It's available at Home Hardware, Canadian Tire and other hardware stores. Get a medium sized tupperware container and pour a little Simple Green in it. Put all the parts in the tupperware with the Simple Green letting them soak for a few minutes. Give the parts a good cleaning with a toothbrush or other cleaning device. You'll want to spray more simple green on the parts as you go. Make sure you get all the cosmoline off the parts. Then put all the parts on some paper towel and make sure all the Simple Green is wiped off.

Now use some Break Free CLP cleaner and give all the parts a nice coat of oil then reassemble the pistol.

Some oil will most likely drip out of the gun. Just wipe it down as you come across it.

This is how I prepared my M213 as well as my M305 rifle.

funny i just wiped the gun with a silicon oil soaked cloth, never even strippped it and off to the range it went. Works fine... I did use gun oil to spray the parts i can see with the slide racked open lol.

Hmm, maybe i should strip it down now... but I have already shot over 300 rounds thru it! :D:D Super Fun
