Hello, I am interested in getting my first black rifle. I am looking for just something cheap with reliability in mind and something that I can just use at the range for fun. Ive really narrowed it down between these two rifles as I plan on buying another gun at the same time and only have enough funds for an entry level knock off.
Norinco is 529.99 while the DA556 is 499.99

does anyone know if either of the carry handles is removable as I am not a fan of the carry handle and would rather purchase a reddot or scope for the rifle.

The DA556 that Canada Ammo has on their site for $499 is the 20" barrel version that has a carry handle that DOES NOT come off. The DA556 carbine with the 14.5" barrel is $599 and the carry handle does come off.
 
I have owned both the Norinco and the Dominion Arms, my recommendation would be the Dominion Arms, Quality seemed to be better. Both have removable carry handles.

Have you owned the DA556 20inch barrel without the removable carry handle ? if you did how did it look with a scope/reddot (if you put one on)

You would need a carry handle mount and a cheek riser or change the upper to a flat top. Wolverine supplies has a nice a
ARMS carry handle mount, or Questar has a flat top upper. If you change the upper to a flat top make sure the upper does not have M4 cuts as the DA556 has rifle cuts. If you want to mount an optic it is far easier to get the M4.
