Nordic Build mk 2

Thanks, Hillbilly. My barrel will actually have a modified A2 sight welded right on to it, so I hope it still lines up with the rear sight on the handle as nicely as yours. We'll see...:)

I thought the .17M2's used the same factory mags as the .22LR...so shouldn't the BC high cap mags also work with the .17M2's?

I saw recently that there's now high capacity mags for the .22WMR/.17HMR rifles as well.

Hillbilly:

I had the day off today, so I spent it building up my two 10/22's. :D I turned my 10/22RR into a target rifle with a 20" Green Mountain bull barrel and a Boyd's Evolution stock in Desert Camo. My 10/22 Carbine turned into an AR wannabe with a Nordic AR-22 stock, 4-position butt stock, DPMS grip, M4 carbine forearm, modified front sight and an A2 flash hider. I am very very happy with the way these two turned out. Can't wait to take them out to the range next week. :)

And no...I'm not going to sink any more money into TI mags. My BC steel lips work well enough for me. :)

I took both rifles to the range today, and the Nordic shot very well. As expected, shot just like a typical 10/22 Carbine. Able to bust clays at the 100 yard berm using a red dot and iron sights without too much of an issue.

Unfortunately, I had issues with my GM barrel. The bullet would get stuck on the bottom lip of the breech. It would actually gouge the lead bullet and get stuck. Ejecting sometimes feels very tight. Also noticed that most of the time, the bolt would actually slow down when returning to battery. Probabvly the increased resistance of a tight chamber...and it would actually refuse to go back into battery sometimes. Noticed that the very bottom of the case was very tight in the chamber. Don't know if I got a dud barrel...hopefully someone can give me some insight in the other thread that I started.

It's too bad really because when it does shoot, I can make 0.5" groups without even trying at 50 yards shooting cheap ammo.

Hillbilly: Got it figured out...it is the ammo afterall. Wrote about it on the other thread...but basically, the bulky profile of the HP was not a good fit with the chamber of the GM barrel. The RN works just fine. Thanks! Much happier now. :D

Just get it from Hawktech Arms...check out his website for pricing. Ships to Canada, and a nice guy to deal with. He has some in stock right now.

Thanks for the PM! I'll definitely look into getting it from them when I find a 10/22 for a decent price. I am having a hard time paying full price for a new gun that I am just going to convert.

Unfortunately, these 10/22's are so popular, that even used ones fetch a fairly decent price. There's not much savings buying a used one over some of the excellent prices like Frontier or SIR offers. Might as well get a new one, unless you really don't like the new plastic (oops...I meant composite ;)) trigger housing that the new ones come with. Good luck.
