The Norfolk OPP say a 29-year old hunter was rushed to the hospital this morning after he was accidentally shot along Norfolk County Rd 60 in South Walsingham.

The 29-year old man is currently in the hospital with serious injuries.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are on the scene with the OPP investigating.

On a side note, you guys are killing me. I was out on an aerial patrol today over southern Ontario, and I spotted 38 of you out deer hunting. Making me jealous :p

Could have been me. ;) We sure are easy to spot!

Well, one fella down London way wasn’t lol. I came around a corner and just happened to pick him out against a tree line, dressed in full Camo. As soon as he saw me he started flailing around to get his jacket off and turn it inside out (to the orange side) and put it back on. Must’ve thought the plane thundering over at 300 feet was there to bust him.

And congrats to the dude down by sarnia. That was a big lookin’ doe you put down there. Nice job :)

In Ontario you have to be wearing some orange when rifle hunting ?

Do you fly for one of the Oil/Gas Pipelines?

Ontario regulations state blaze orange must be a minimum of 400sq.in visible from all sides PLUS a blaze orange cap. There's a "brightness scale" that must be complied with also, and construction mesh vests are illegal. Blaze orange is required by ALL hunters (except waterfowlers) when there's an open GUN season for Deer,Moose,Elk and licensed Black Bear hunters except when they're in a tree stand. Outside those seasons, although NOT legally required, most hunters wear blaze orange in some form, whether they're jackets, vests or caps simply because there's so many hunters afield during fall hunting seasons. Be seen,Be safe.

Cool...you fly that White winged/blue bodied plane...if so, see you most Tuesdays...lol

HAH!! Yeah that’s me! That’s hilarious! What a bizarre way to connect with another gun nut lol.

PM me where you are and I’ll wave next time. (And know where to NOT toss out my apple core :p )

Were you near Princton/Drumbo either Monday or Tuesday?

Hopefully the guy pulls through. I'd really like the details on how this went down as it's hard to fathom how one could be shot when wearing orange. The controlled hunt, often with drives and fast action shooting, has the potential to be dangerous if hunters don't use their heads.
