Norinco 10.5" CQ-A handguard off-center

Hey all,

I recently bought a Norinco M4 from one of the retailers on this site (impeccable service by the way). The gun works flawlessly, but I noticed that when I installed an Nc-Star quad rail, the rail was canted a bit to one side. The result is that my foregrip is not perfectly vertical. It's cosmetic I know, but it bugs me. Has anyone run into this before? Any help would be appreciated. And yes I know it's a cheap rail and a cheap gun, but it still doesn't seem right.

Answer is in the question. Cheap gun cheap rail. You can't expect it work right.

I have had 3 norcs never had that problem. I would think it is the rail. post a pic please.

You may need to open up one or more the screw holes with a Dremel slightly to get it to line up correctly.

Norinco guns I'll tolerate. They've run pretty well for me despite being pretty hazy on the spec.

Nc star anything I I wouldn't trust with tac870's boy parts. If somebody here posted a story story about Nc star being the cause of SARS, I would give it even odds of being true.

I was trying to avoid the "cheap gun cheap rail" nonsense by including it in my post, but I guess someone had to re-point it out to me.

I will try and post pics tomorrow - could it be the barrel nut?

Sure, why not?

It could be literally any component of the rail or rail interface on the gun, and it's virtually impossible for anyone to diagnose from your description except to say that the likely cause is something machined wrong and you may or may not be able to fix it.

I'm not sure how that rail installs but it's pretty easy to put the stock grips on slightly canted. Need to make sure you get them in the right slots on that gear shaped piece.

That makes sense - thanks a lot for the replies everyone.

I had noticed that the first piece appeared to go on straight, but then it all canted when the second piece was installed.
