I am not to much in entry level stuff, i believe at buying top from the bat, yesterday i had a chance to shoot a Norinco 1911 45 ACP with Norinco ammo... Now, i have to be honest here, i got to shoot 100 rounds off it and, i had no malfunctions, no problems using the pistol in any manner and i was shooting not better or worst than previous try with other make of pistol, being a novice in handgun, i thought this chinese stuff was junk, but i guess iv'e got a humility lesson as i found this handgun to be working flawlesly , accurate and reliable, i had a preconcept of it but nothing of that showned up... Guess i have a lot to learn... JP.

Once you get the pistol, there are several things you can do to make it "better". The trigger can be improved a lot by a gunsmith familiar with the 1911. If you pull the mainspring housing off the back of the grip, you can take the spring out and clip 3 coils off the bottom. This will lighten the trigger, for starters. You Tube will show you how.
You will want better grips. Checkered wood are classy and comfortable. The Hogue palm swell rubber grips are very comfortable and to do not interfere with the ease of getting to the mag release.
If you hand is average sized, a longer trigger will make it more comfortable and more accurate. The current CanAm 1911 comes with a short trigger. Most Norcs come with a Medium length.
