Norinco 1911 45acp rear sight stuck

There is a rumour that the rear sight on the current cheapo clean slide Norincos is soldered in place. That seems unlikely, but it would not surprise me if there is some Loctite there.

has any one hit the sight hard enough to move it? Any sign of solder or Loctite?

Mine all shoot left.

use a proper sight tool to move the sight and you won't damage slide with hammer marks.

Mine shoots to the left too, and i plan on drifting it on purpose I just need to bring a brass punch next time I'm at the range!

I did three Bowmar cuts on new model Norincos in the past year, and as I reported then, one was in fact soldered in place, and I cut it off in the mill. If a 12 ounce hammer and brass rod won't move it probably is soldered, even Locktite can't resist the Force.

I had heard that the front sights were soldered in but this is the first time I've heard about the rear sight, good thing to keep in mind. Haven't shot my two yet but hope they are aligned good, I guess you'd have to send them out to someone who could mill them if they were soldered in, hope I don't have to do that.

Wouldn't a brass punch just get mangled in the process

If its soldered yes, but not all of them are. A little heat will pop it lose too. - dan
