Norinco 1911 9mm issues

Got this handgun about two months ago, it shot the first 150 rounds like a champ. as of now it has seen 115 grain 9mm steel casings and 124 grain 9mm brass and by far the gun is less accurate with the 124 grain 9 mm brass at 25 yards.

I noticed that the barrel bushing is no long flat and has shifted. I took some pictures but they are not the greatest. I will up load them this afternoon if these don't work.

If anyone has an idea of where to look for 9mm parts for this 1911 it would be appreciated.

Well, that was helpful, and not even off topic.

OP - have you removed and cleaned the bushing flange and seating area (with a tooth brush or similar) and is there any deformity in the tabs that lock the bushing in place? Is the face of the bushing flat, or has it bent? If the bushing has bent (be aware that there should be an angle there, just not a bend) you can get a replacement through places like Wanstalls, Dlask etc, or from Brownells. What you need to do is measure the outside diameter of the barrel with a set of calipers, then order the correct size. Alternately, you could have a 'smith fit a bushing for you, which will improve accuracy. There is no specific size for a "9mm bushing" over a "45 bushing", it's the hole in the middle that's a different size. If the bushing is bent, you might want to also get a new recoil spring, the one you have may not be correct for the calibre, allowing things to batter each other - the springs are sold by weight, the Colt factory ships 9mm 1911's with a 14 lb spring.
 
EGW will custom cut a bushing for you. You need some calipers and have to measure a few things, but they work great. Not cheap, but no more then a new oversized bushing fit by a smith.
 
Did you buy it new? If so, contact your dealer; I have had no issues getting defective parts replaced; but in all honesty, the busing does not look all that "off location" or distorted.
When you have the slide off with the spring removed, and the locking lugs engaged, how much play is there between the muzzle and the barrel? I have a norinco .45 and it is less than .0010; the bushing in the frame about the same... and that is after about 500 rounds.
Have you been shooting 9mm long? 150 rounds is not enough to base an accuracy judgement on; 750 or 1000 more like... unless you have shot it from bench rest.

Thanks for all the information guys I’m going to make a video later tonight or tomorrow morning and upload it to my one drive. Since the 150-200 rounds I have put Down the barrel I have for sure seen a accuracy decrease I would get 8 out of 9 shot on target and now maybe 5 if I am lucky

I noticed the bushing like this after about 15 shots with the 124 grain. I’m going to take it apart tonight and take several pictures.
 
I got an EGW custom bushing from Freedom ventures for about $60 or so and it made my groups smaller and eliminated fliers. It's still not a long range target gun but its good for my purposes.

Extractors tend to be wrong from the factory, generally they come out of the box the wrong shape and either too loose or too tight. This shows how they should be - it's dull, but it is very detailed, and shows a 9mm extractor, which is different from a 45 in how it sits in the round's groove.


As far as the bushing goes, the slide groove that the tab on the bushing locks into might be too wide - measure both the tab and the groove. The bushing being loose out of battery isn't an issue. The lugs don't look to be getting hammered, so the link probably isn't too long.
 
Replacing the bushing won't hurt, but really, you need to bench-rest the gun. Also that USA forged ammo is garbage; dirty and inconsistent... and hard on extractors.

Tuning the ejector a bit should help with it engaging the shell and not jamming; be careful to not remove too much metal as it is easy to weaken it and have it break.
 
I bought the same Norinco and finally had the chance to use it today for the first time. I put about 150 rounds through it and found it to be pretty accurate. I have also noticed that the barrel bushing does not sit flush. This was the case with another NP29 I saw in store. Keep in mind this is a Norinco and it is not known for it craftsmanship. The fit and finish leaves much to be desired. However, I paid about $340 for it and I can't really complain as every time I pulled the trigger it went bang (thus far). I was going to start upgrading parts on this firearm, but the parts would end up costing me as much as what I paid for this gun. I figured, this being my first 1911, that if I like the platform enough I would invest in buying something better down the road.
 
NORINCOs. buy em, shoot em have fun. To drop heavy coin you still have a 400 dollar gun with a 1000 dollar investment. Not fair buts that real. So yes sell Norinco and up buy to hold value.

I had a custom barrel bushing done by EGW. Keep in mind most of the Norinco 1911 barrels are out of spec, mine slug tested at .358", it is not accurate at all. Will get a good match grade barrel someday. :cool:

Try loading it with 38/357 bullets in 9mm cases - that's what we used to do with early Cz's in the mid-'80's. Most of the early 75's and 85's slugged at 357-35at the lands.
