Norinco 1911 9mm or 45?

I have them all. The average Norc 45 is quite accurate out of the box. The late model sport models are well made and well finished.

The late model 9mm 1911s are also well finished, but the 3 I bought were all quite inaccurate. For that reason i would not recommend the Norc 1911 in 9mm.

But, I have two Norc copies of the CZ in 9mm and 40, and they are very accurate. And the CZ is a great pistol.

I say get them both, but if only 1, get the .45 to start, thats what a 1911 is supposed to be, then later on get the 9mm or the .40 SAM. You are already reloading so adding more dies wont break the bank to bad.

I started with a Remington R1 .45, then got the the Ruger SR1911, then the Norinco 9mm 1911, then the Colt .22 1911, if I reloaded in .40 I would consider getting the SAM as well. Love me some 1911's LOL

I have one of the SAM 40s and for the price ($450 on sale right now) it's a great deal. However, mags can be a real issue as they are the scarcest of the common 1911 calibre mags and performance can be spotty. Some people just use 45 mags and a few brands work but some don't so it's a crap shoot. Wolverine has 40 S&W mags for sale for $33 ea. right now and if they work OK that's also pretty good.

I really like my 9mm Kimber Target Stainless II but it's out of your price zone so I would suggest looking at the SAMs. If you're leaning to 9mm they have a few full size 1911s in both blue and stainless from $530 to $650 and are great quality for the money.

Look at SAM pistols for a cheap gun, the Norincos are rough as hell. Only use for them amongst folks that appreciate a pistol is if you buy the .45 911 Norinco and rip it apart, substituting quality aftermarket parts and building a custom gun. I played with a couple at WS, the gun desk manager said you have to treat these like your ex wife...lol.
