Norinco 1911 bad magazines - no warranty?

I had the same issue; it is not the mags; aftermarket mags had the same issues, as did they for some other members here and on the other forum. The issue is that the slide release is too short to engage either the Norinco mags or aftermarket mags. I solved the problem by tig welding the slide release to build it up, then hand working it. I verifying that it engages the mag follower without interference. Once I'm happy with the fit, I reblue.

I have done this for a number of other members and all have been very happy with the fix. I do the work for the cost of return shipping the mag release. I don't need the whole pistol as I have a pistol here to use for fitting.

If you are interested, send me a message.

Mark fixed my brother's Norc as well... it was this problem 100%.

Had a problem with the Norinco mags only wanting to take 5 rounds . bought new mags and no problems. the gun goes bang every time . try a new mag before you start welding or fixing anything . and when you go to buy another mag take the so called offending slide stop with you and match it up against another one in the store to see if it meets spec.

Hi all,

Thank you for all the replies! Have an update, my magazine was replaced under warranty! It's the same brand as the first one that was replaced made by Metalform.
I'll test it in about 1 week but I don't expect issues.

Have a good night guys!

Hi guys,

I've got a 1911 and both magazines that came with the firearm are defective. They get stuck in the magazine well and don't lock the slide after the last shot.
I've got one replaced by the warranty center but they say now the magazines are not covered by the warranty and I have to buy a new one.

What can I do? Anyone else with the same issue?

Thank you!

You bought Norinco..

I have this same issue with my norinco 1911 .45. I ordered a new slide stop from dlask I hope solves the problem. Other then that it always goes bang.

I have a Norinco 1911 in 9mm and the mags work well.
I recently got a NP 28 in a trade and none of the mags would lock the slide open after the last round.
Later I took the gun out of the safe racked the slide and it locked in the open position.
I tried the rest of the mags and they all worked.
I am puzzled something have been gummed up from lack of use, and released by a good cleaning.

MecGar and Metalform are my cheap mag of choice.

I'm a target shooter - slow fire. I don't need fancy $80 race gun mags, just reliable ones.

Just an interjection, since I've seen them mentioned for comparison, but when I had a Remington R1, out of my various mags, including several no name milspec ones, the one mag guaranteed to cause function issues in most of the 45's were the Remington mags. The Remington liked them, though.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. btw, you're off topic. The thread is about the warranty issues.

I may be wrong but I think that is his point. Norinco has no warranty. Period. Any warranty you are receiving is from the dealer you bought it from not from norinco. Some dealers will, on their own, warranty the norinco products they sell (out of their own pockets) and others sell norinco “as is”.

I have three Colt 1911s, and a Norinco in 45 and never had any issues with the mags.
But I guess sometimes its a roll of the dice.
The good thing about 1911 mags there are lots of better ones out there at a reasonable price so shop around.
