Norinco 1911 barrel, wtf

Might be metal fouled. Try a good cleaning with a solvent intended to remove metal fouling.

Looks like you need a good cleaning. I use Gunzilla/copperzilla to clean the barrel. Alternatively, soak the bore with WD40 for at least 30 mins, few passes of bronze brush, soaked patch and finish with dry patch. Ballistol is also a good non-toxic bore cleaner/CLP. However, I find gunzilla/copperzilla to have the right strength in cleaning the bore in less time.

Try shooting a couple of jacketed rounds, usually works on mine. I shoot almost exclusively medium-hardness cast lead, so regular cleaning is a must, usually a little solvent and a few passes with a bore snake are all that's needed. If it's real stubborn I'll get out a 28 gauge brush and give it a few swabs.

If it's like that at the muzzle it must be grim at the other end.

Or the bore hasn't got much polish.

I have a Lewis, but I don't use it. Huge pita. I have to chuck the handle in a vice and hire another man and a boy to help pull the barrel over it.

But it sure does strip out lead.
