norinco 1911 choices

I can't believe how much I have been flamed for offering information.
You CAN bring your chinese made gun into the USA so long as you bring it back out.
The prohibition regarding chinese made (norinco specifically) firearms refers to importing them for sale in the USA.

Whoa. This is excellent info...thank you! I can't wait to show off my 'Chinese M1A' to my American pals...

I always said id never buy a Norc, but today i tried a guys Norc 1911 he had, and i couldnt see much difference in his compared to my 1200 bux colt. They both worked.

I have a number of different models of Norc 1911s.

the newer Norcs are much better in accuracy and finish than the clean slide version. Very pleased with the 45ACP accuracy.

I bought 3 of the recent batch of 9mms. Accuracy sucked. Had to re-barrel them.

When I applied to BATF, I clearly stated on the form 6 that I was bringing a Chinese made Norinco 1911 with me to the USA. I provided the registration confirmation of my attendance at the upcoming four day session at Front Sight.
BATF returned the approved form 6 to me with no questions asked.

As a retired Professor, my advice to you or anyone else on this site is do your fecking research. 'cuz when you make statements without it you usually wind up looking stupid.

edit: I am going to post a pic of the approved form 6 from BATF. I'll post it as a new post. Watch for it....

I had my Norc 1911 and Norc 45 ammo on my temp import of firearms. they took a black marker and blacked out my norinco and norinco ammo and stamped it as partially approved. The did not approve me bringing it in. All others were approved. Hey good for you, if it is on your ATF Form 6 they cant argue with that at customs.

SAMs have a delicate finish. It's the only 1911(of several brands) that I have a faint idiot scratch on. Wouldn't happen on a Norinco.
Yes, the SAM is reliable and acccurate, but not more so than my Norincos. Never regretted any Norinco I bought.

Fyi, the Sam is 450$, I bought my nork gi for 279.99. That's closer to 200$ more, that's quite a bit of cash for mods.

SAM GI (.45) was $399 normally from Wolverine when they had them in stock, but what "mods" can you put on a GI pistol that won't look like #### other then grips? lol

While I'm still planning on getting myself one of the SAM's [not a GI type model, though - one of the other ones] I did recently change the trigger [stock Colt S70 trigger] & grips on my unmarked Norc 1911A1:

That's about as far as I'll go with the 'mods' on that one, though.

Now that's what I mean...Grips and solid trigger, still looks sweet and like a 1911A1.
I was thinking more like this kinda "mods" stuff....just gross lol.

I really can't knock norinco.....had a few, government, commander, np-22, ar-15.....they have all been great, np-22 was the best by some way...although I traded a few, I kept the commander, nice fo front sight, good blueing, American legend grips..45acp only I believe....I would replace it with a 9mm if I could...depends how much you shoot.

I hear ya!

If I wanted a 'table leg grip' I'd just buy a Beretta 92. :p

I like all 3 of those norinco's you meantioned. They are all good shooters. None of these had sharp edges

Worst thing is when you get one with an offset sight on the slide

My smith has a used one with a tigger job for $300. I keep humming and hawing on that vs a new GI SAM.

I also have a remmy R1 which is GI other than the oversized sights, so I'm having a hard time justifying another gun to begin with
