My brand spanking new Norinco M1911A1 has a bit of a problem - or at least I think it has a problem.

The disconnector seems to stick up a little too far, causing it to catch on the slide as it returns forward. After a quick Google search I read that... well, in the interests of not saying anything that'd get me banned, I read that it'd be bad bad bad to file/stone the bit of the disconnector that sticks up.

Could I polish the protruding bit of the disconnector, making it easier for the slide to slide over it? Or should I just live with it and the rough feeling of the slide impacting the protruding bit of the disconnector?

My brand spanking new Norinco M1911A1 has a bit of a problem -

First, the gun is new. It needs a few hundred rounds through it to smooth out some rough edges.
Secondly, it is a Norinco which I like. But they save money by not hand finishing them.
Third. If the disconnector stays rough, either live with it or buy an aftermarket one such as a Wilson Combat or one of the other well known makes. IMO it is best to get a disconnector & sear as a set and install it.

If you make modifications to your disconnector ( or other trigger parts ) , unless you really know what you are doing you may create a VERY unsafe gun .
