Like the title says. Do the 9mm share a commonality with all standard fullsize 1911 parts?

Are the following items interchangeable? (assuming minor gunsmithing)
-beavertails
-magwells
-hammers
-mainspring housings
-triggers
-pin kits

Are the following parts not interchangeable due to caliber differences?
-slide stop

For magazines, has anybody found a good workable source? I have read negative things about the Wilsons. How are the Colt factory magazines? Any others that will fit problem free?

Looking to get started on a new project gun and wanted some helpful input here from anybody who has been there done it sort of thing. Thanks

Everything you list would be in the common part category.
These parts are unique: slide assembly with barrel, the ejector.
I have had good luck with Metalform magazines.
Just a suggestion - don't swap parts for the sake of swapping parts. If there is a specific performance gain, that's different.

x2 tiriaq
all your listed parts are same as full size in 45ACP
also I think the firing pin is thinner then the one in 45ACP
(I have one with diam 0.68 diff that 0.90 for 45ACP)

Firing pins vary among the manufacturers, so measure the existing one prior to ordering.

The Norinco most likely use the standard diameter barrel and bushing, but there are three common types. The standard is a .581 diameter (if memory serves), but Colt did ship 9mm and .38 Supers with .490 diameter barrels at various times, with an coresponding bushing which is very hard to find these days. (Kings Gunsmithing via Brownells, if available) There is also a collet bushing but it sucked so bad even the Chinese wouldn't copy it.

Metalform or Tripp magazines are tops for the 9mm.

I see some of the parts listed as series 70 or series 80 guns? What series is the Norc as its IIRC a copy of the original 1911 and not one of the newer types. The parts are for a build up, so I have a gun in 9mm that is a matched pair to my .45 gun.

Remember the pink grips! I have orange ones for this one...

Series 80 just refers to the ghey firing safety installed by the lawyers at Colt, and ignored by everyone else.

So my gun is pre-san francisco then. Thanks that simplifies things.

I have used STI parts in the past on the other build and was happy with them. I was planning on using some Ed Brown stuff this time. Anybody have an opinion on Ed Brown vs. Wilson vs. STI for basic parts?

For the trigger, its its Aluminum it cant get blued right? What is best on the trigger, a short or long type?

Trigger really depends on your hand and grip. I prefer a short trigger.
As far as bushing size goes, my NP29s have small diameter bushings that will not accept a .45 barrel.

The NP-29 is the G.I. spec gun. Slightly tarted up with commander hammer, beavertail safety and such.
With the sights a very slight improvement over the G.I. original sights.:)

The slide stop has a slightly different actuator arm, to compensate for the slightly narrower follower shelf of the 9mm magazine.

I have to add that I use the same slide stop for all calibers in my Norkenstein. It is based on a NP-29 frame.

See this old thread.
