I wish they would sell out .
So we could get back to their normal delays in processing & shipping .
I've been ordering from them pretty regularly lately & I have one of these combos on order going on month 2 now .
There is other stuff I'd like to order from them but not until this combo is done & gone

Well. I ordered on the 24th of April. (One package.) Had some remorse and ordered a SECOND deal on the 27th! (Receiving confirmation immediately!)

Payment taken on April 29th and email rec'd to confirm. On the 15th of May I received an email containing the serial numbers of the items to be sent, and

a message that CanAm had initiated a transfer through the CFC. I called the CFC on Friday, (31 May) explained that I was hoping to find out the status of the transfer,

and spoke with a nice lady there. She could find no record that a transfer had been initiated, but was aware of my purchase! "You bought the two 45s. right?"

She asked me if I had received a form in the mail that I was to sign verifying my collector status. I replied that I had not. Then she proceeded to transfer my call to

the Ontario CFO, which was too busy to answer my call, and I had to leave a message describing my plight. I guess I wait some more, now! (My Birthday IS coming

up...)

LOL

Anyone else (in Ontario) have a similar situation?

Same thing here. I filled out the forms and instead of mailing them I drove to Orilla to drop them off. Here it gets stupid. The address that you mail it to is the OPP head office on Memorial Drive. But that is not where the CFO office is. That is in the city hall downtown on the second floor. If I left the paperwork at 777 Memorial it would have to sent over or picked up whenever. I drove to city hall. The clerks at the CFO were very helpful , checked everything over, did the collector status and finished the transfer while I waited. Took all of 10 minutes. She then wished me good shooting and off I went.

It`s once you get to the end of checkout and try to process the order, then tells you it is no longer in stock

I guess the 3000 count has exhausted itself!?

I broke down and ordered one late this morning. I immediately got a confirmation and receipt for payment. Am I the last guy in?

Hey CGN, the 1911A1 is shooting great. Put 150 rounds through it with no ftf or fte.

There were a couple members on this forum interested on how I applied this finish. I will start off by saying that it took me 6.5 hours roughly, also some things I could have done to " perfect" the finish. As we all know norinco's aren't known for their smooth finishes.

1.) strip the 1911 handgun "completely" . It's much easier to start with the frame and slide and then complete the small Pieces after.
2.) place either the slide or frame into hot Vinegar for 30-40 minutes. In some cases you may have to soak it for an additional 30 minutes to help get the bluing off .It's much Easier to work on one at a time, Instead of rushing yourself as it will take time and patients.
3.) I like to take hot boiling water and rinse the Vinegar off the part iam about to work on.
4.) take Scotch-Brite and scrub every crack and Crevice. Applying some wd-40 or g-96 during or after is a good idea.
5.) sand your part with grits from 220-2000. Avoid sanding the slides on the top and the sides where the frame and slide slide along each other as this will make your hand gun very loose and could effect it's operation. You can use much lower grits of sandpaper on the outside of your frame and slide. Norinco s have heavy tool makings and gouges in certain areas.it also helps to wipe of parts as you start using finer grits of sandpaper. A dremel with a wire wheel helps to buff the serrations on the back of the slide.
*the tool makings on the inside will hold oil to maintain its Function*
6.)by this time your slide and frame should already be showing much Potential. Using a larger buffing wheels in combination with a Dremel sized buffing wheel, start buffing your parts with with mothers Aluminum and mag polish or some kind of polishing compound.I used a 5" buffing wheel, nut bolt and two washers with a drill instead of a bench grinder, working with tools is not needed but much Advised.
7.) you can either strip the bluing off all the small parts, or just the parts you can see on the outside.
* If you sand the internal parts be very carful as it can effect it's operation and safty*
8.) Annoy people by reflecting light into their eyes with its shinny mirror like finish :)

Do you plan to refinish it??? you know polished carbon steel wont be shiny for long.. Carbon steel needs some sort of finish or it will darken and tarnish itself quick

Holly Crap!!!!

I'm going to call first thing on Monday about my transfer status now!!! I got an email that said mine had been transfered to the CFO for approval, but I am going to call to make sure they got it now! Do you have Collector Status, or are they trying to stall and screw you over?!!!

Ian

All of my original registration forms, (the 8 1/2 by 14 legal size paper, from WAY back) have the statement: BONA FIDE COLLECTOR on them.

I have been collecting since the 1970s, and on and off have shot competitively in various clubs throughout Ontario. While I am not currently a member of

any club, I'm definitely planning on doing so, since I am now semi-retired. I see no reason why my "collector status" may have changed.

I have not purchased restricted in a long time, but bought a couple of rifles before they dropped the registration requirements for longarms.

Maybe they just changed the rules???

OH! THANK you for that reply!! I guess they did indeed change the rules while I was asleep! LOL

I suppose that, when and if I receive those forms, I will also make the drive to Orillia.

Funny that the lady at CFC was aware of my purchase, but not the transfer. Strange.

Thanks again for the info!!

I was thinking of refinishing possibly later down the road. Iam pretty sure the mothers polish and g-96/ gun oil will hold up fine for a long time. Thanks for the heads up boss351cleveland

please keep us up to date - I was planning on stripping the bluing as well, curious to see how it holds up without a finish!

I too was thinking that this high polish look with pearl grips would look great. but have heard mixed reports on the maintenance. of course frog lube or oil would be applied but now hesitation exists because of the tarnish issue????

The same process is used for barrels and bolts etc. Would it not be the same for the gun as a whole. but I don't know. It would be nice if anyone that has done this could chime in on the longevity of the finish...
