Yeah, 2 weeks may be quite pessimistic.

"We have initiated a transfer to you through the CFC and are awaiting approval before shipping the product to you."
25 hours and 21 minutes later...
"Your order has been shipped!"

I just received the two that I've ordered. One has a real good trigger with bit of a creep, but the other one feels like it is breaking around 10 lbs. Haven't cleaned the guns yet so this may change. Both units will go through an extensive upgrade (trigger job with Wilson hammer/sear/disconnector, Novak adjustable tritium rear sight and dovetail front site, checkering on front strap, full length guide rod, flat top on slides, straight main spring housing with magazine well and bull barrel, beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety and slide release, lowered and flared ejection port, new grips)...

Frame slide fit is very similar between the two and doesn't seem to need any work for the moment.

Other than small hair line cracks on two of the grip panels, it is better than what I was expecting, wish they had consecutive serial numbers though...

I'll be building these for my boys as a present when they hit their 18th birthday, I've got like 12 years to finish them !!!

Never had 2000 factory .45 ammo in my possession before, strange feeling...
Wow where do you get the parts and if you dont mind me asking , what is the approx cost? Is it cheaper than buying say a nice s&w or do you think you get an even better gun? Also if you were going to do say 3 things to the gun to improve it besides deburring and maybe polishing the mating surfaces what would they be and where do you get the parts!
Thanks, cheers Bob

All parts are ordered from Brownells. They'll cost around $700 per gun. I bet you can buy very well made guns for $700 + whatever Norinco 1911 will cost, however i just enjoy building guns myself and not too much worried about the cost. That being said, once I'm done with them, they'll shoot and look like a high end Kimber or Wilson...

Three things that I would change;
1. Grip safety, because I get hammer bite. That usually requires changing hammer so might as well add the sear and disconnector here as well.
2. Add an extended thumb safety
3. Change sights or add a full length guide rod.

This list entirely depends on what you want to get out of this gun, and if you want to go with major upgrades or just drop-in modifications. Above would get you a very nice plinker and range shooter. I've shot Olympic style pistol in past life so I expect a very good trigger and accuracy, and that requires more than changing 3 things...

Hope this helps...

actually, you dont NEED to change anything to get a good trigger. My armco norinco had an amazing trigger job with stock parts

it was not as accurate as the high end guns (sloppy slide to frame fit, loose bushing), but the trigger rivaled the high end guns I shot

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but is dehorning/deburring required on these firearms? And if so, what is the purpose - is it for cosmetics, safety, or functionality?

Thanks in advance.

This sale is amazing. This thread has over 68,000 views, so even if everyone who viewed this thread only bought two, CanadaAmmo has now sold 136,000 pistols and 136 million rounds of ammunition.

ahah i can't go to the range until i get the registration!!

or thats what the CFO told me.....

That's strange I have called in when I was in the same situtaion and they just gave me the registration number over the phone to take with me and said I was good to go. Call back as maybe it was bad communication. I have since told a couple of friends to do this and they got the same result as I did.

I was told by them that is all you need as well. I have gotten them to give it to me on the phone and I wrote it down and kept it with my paperwork on the way to the range.
