Fully agree on the .22cal pistol. When PSA was open, I would go every Sunday, shoot 50 9mm and a few hundred .22. With a 22cal pistol you can shoot all day at the range and not break the bank. Makes the trip worthwhile if you have to go any distance.
Norinco 1911 or Bul? Built-in differences?

I have 3 Norc 1911s and they are all good shooters! The NP30 double stack shoots about the best, but sadly, it uses proprietary mags and the grips are not standard 1911 fare. Don't know squat about the BUL, but they seem to be a good deal...I might have to get one!
Bul M5 IPSC model is reliable in 9mm. I assume the standard Bul is as well.
Marstar is importing the Bul, see if they will sell you the aluminium mag well, LPA adjustable rear/ fibreoptic front and ambi safety. These are the only upgrade bits needed to bring the Bul to IPSC model specs. A .40 S&W variant is available, I'm unaware of the .45 gap being sold in this gun, however a custom gunsmith should be able to chamber a new barrel, the standard .45 ACP mags should work. Of course, the question is why? .45 gap is a way for Glock to sell more guns, not a superior cartridge. The Bul is a series 70 gun without the firing pin safety. My experience with Buls is with the full size model, I've no experience with the commander.
I've only ever fired one magazine through a Norinco so I can't comment on them.

I've just bought my 4th (ever) Norinco pistol. This one is in .45 and it will be dedicated to the .22LR Wilson Combat conversion kit. For the $ 300 I paid for it, it's easy to justify leaving it as a .22LR trainer and reinforcer.
So in my cabinet, I've got 2 Norinco 1911's, one in 9mm for my IDPA and the .45 / .22LR. Do I love Norinco's ? Sure I do... remember that these are blasters and competition pieces. I cannot afford to own safe queens.

If you like the Norc .45 than go for it . It was my first gun and never had a problem . If you listen to the recommendations above go to Gunnar at Armco and get one of his Tweaked Norc's .I have seen one and it was a really sweet piece and ran flawlessly while the local Springer and open guys had function problems.

Let me start with the fact that I am a 45acp guy; 9mms belong in Browning High-Powers etc. I own two nice 'rincos that have never failed to feed anything and are accurate. Out of the box my 'rincos would shoot with Gold Cups and at a fraction of the cost. I did T&E on a Bul and it was a descent pistol but not in a class with the Norinco. Regards, Richard

Just shot my Norinco Commander by Armco, the trigger is nice, the fit is good, I can see that he polished the feed ramp and a few other places. He also installs a recoil buffer that is good for 500 shots. You might want him to throw in a pack with your gun. It's my first 1911 and .45 I am very happy with it. My groups were ok, but will improve as I get used to it.
