Norinco 1911 or Ruger 1911 ? for my first 1911

I have 2 of the canam norc 45 deals,
No FTF or FTE goes bang everytime
Finish on mine is no better or worse than any other manufactures GI milspec on market.
dont buy 1, buy 2...lol

I have a Norc in .45. Got it from my father in law and he did a little trigger job to it. Fantastic piece. The finish isn't the same as on one twice the price of course, but for killing paper it works great! I just bought the wife a SAM 9mm from wolverine and that is an amazing little gun as well. You don't have to spend a grand to get a functioning pistol.

p.s. If you're thinking about the norc, PM me and I can email you pics, going to be selling it soon.

Cheers

Matt

Just got an email from Wolverine supplies; they have the SAM enhanced commander on sale @ 525. I've never handled/seen one live but it might be an interesting alternative...

1911 for $150? (Canamo deal). How can you go wrong?

If you apply the same discount to the gun as the ammo the gun works out to $ 274 out of the 500.00 deal, I have a CZ Shadow and a GSG 1911, and went for the deal, the Norc cycled fine but the trigger was so heavy that my accuracy was horrible, set gun down and shot really tight groups with my CZ Shadow every time, Ordered Wilson, Ed Brown, Wolf and Dlask specialty parts from Brownell and have a decent gun for under 525.00, Great learning experience buying a Norc but I ended up buying the Ruger SR 1911 after the Norc and really like it but of all my guns the CZ Shadow is buy far the most accurate, having three 1911 shows that I like the platform but the Shadow is a gun that I will keep for life.

The Norc 1911s that come with the ammo deal are a lot rougher then the Norc that I used to own. I played with a couple stock guns recently that were nasty, and I shot an upgraded gun that was great. However, once you add up the cost of replacing all the small parts it can really add up, and in the end you will still just have a Norc. Ruger is the the way to go if you are not interested in learning some gun smithing to get your Norc running the way that you want.

Here is my experience, Ruger has to buy in person and inspect every single inches of the gun. Norinco should buy used from a fellow gun nutz with good EE rating.

it is the only way to get a trouble free.

I bought a norinco as my first gun. I did not know if i was going to like handgun shooting and the norinco is a good entry level gun. Works great! But its a rough gun. not that I mind, its fun to work on. I will however be buying an sr1911 for the fit and finish.

Norinco from CanAm with a 1000 rounds of 45 is a ok deal, the ammo is fine but the gun is rough around the edges to say the least. The Ruger 1911 is a much nicer gun, fit and finish, but some of them have troubles with front sights snapping off. My ruger is in for it's 3rd sight in under 1000 rounds, going to a machined sight rather than the stock cast one.
I own both guns, would still buy the Ruger before the Norinco. Just my 2 cents worth.

Been into 1911's for ~ 30 years. Easily owned at least 100 different ones in that time.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with either the Can Am Norc 1911 deal or a Ruger SR1911.

Personally, I've got one of each, too. And glad I do.

I would say if you can buy the Ruger, the Norinco will work but it is definitely not as nice. If you are happy with the Norc though it is a decent choice. I know that I would wish I saved my pennies a little longer and got the nicer one but everyone has their own taste.
