Norinco 1911 owners, what are your opinons of it?

On the other hand, a thread discussing opinions on Norinco 1911's is timeless! :p

there is that.

on a related note....
my dad picked up the new offering from Norinco that everyone has been raving about, forward slide serrations, FO front sites, much better QC on the fit and finish ect ect ect.
anyways he is coming up for Christmas and we are planning to hit the range with it while here so ill get a chance to have a look at a 'nice' norinco.
if i get a chance ill dig out my 3 and do a little side by side comparison video, cause we all know how much i like to make videos!

Purchased my Norinco well used one a couple of months ago. Not real accurate but functioned ok. I have recently added an EGW oversized firing pin stop (extractor was clocking), Dwyer / Wilson Combat Group Gripper and, an EGW angled barrel bushing. The GG gave me consistent groups. The bushing really tightened the barrel up front resulting in noticeably improved accuracy. The fps gave me perfect extraction mostly to between 3 and 4 o'clock. Saw a NIB Norinco on gunbroker the other day bid to 850.00 USD and it still had hours to go. Believe it was close to 20 years old. Would love to have a new one. Perhaps someday they'll stop playing politics down here.

yeah its too bad about that situation for you guys, in my opinion they do make a pile of stuff that's both inexpensive as well as fun, sort of a perfect avenue to tinker, learn and customize as your not really losing anything making changes and such that you may otherwise not on a very expensive gun, and the lions share of the time they are also quite functional and reliable. lets face it for most of us this sport is a great pastime and all about fun, if you are a professional shooter, compete or make a living doing this it may not be a reasonable avenue to go down upgrading parts and so forth, but for sh1ts and giggles it gets an "A" in my book
