norinco 1911 refinish

Liberal application of Hoppes 9 is always my favourite route. Any pics you can supply for this? I'm curious

As a side note to this conversation, I don't think I've seen any Norinco 1911s packed in cosmo. Liberally oiled yes, but none coated in thick waxy cosmoline. I think there seems to be a common misconception that all Chinese guns come packed in cosmo. My experience with Norinco guns of all flavours does not show this to be true.

^ good point. Mine (1911) was coated in a heavy weight oil and vacuum sealed in plastic, no cosmoline. My ChiCom sks was another matter altogether. (I still find that cosmo in the odd "nook" or "cranny")

Ah right! The mil surprise SKS's are of course the exception. The older M305's were packed in cosmo as well. But now even the M305's are heavily oiled not packed in cosmo.

Its hard to get it to show up but I tried, I got 0000 steel wool and will try that with oil rubbing gently as I've read recommended, unless the experts have a better method?
