I have a Norc 1911 with an Adjustable rear sight. With rear sight cranked all the way down it shoots about 10" high at 20 yards.

I calculate that the front sight should be about 0.25" above the top of the sight dovetail. I have not found a sight that high.

My preference is a solid steel blade sight.

Any suggestions?

I bought a front sight from Epps. I believe it is described as a blank. It is a brand name but I would have to look for the package to get the make.
However, it fits a standard 1911 front dovetail & is really tall. It is designed to be filed down as required.
Perhaps someone else can help here.

As a thought, you could file a bit from the sight to make it loose in the dovetail then put in a shim underneath it to tighten it & raise it. Just a thought.

I found the package.
It is a Novak front sight blank. Brownells SKU # 662=645-060

I checked mine & from the slide to the top of the sight is .30 high .
I have my rear sight cranked up & bit to compensate, maybe one day I will take some off the front sight. Maybe.
