Are there any Norinco 1911 owners that would like to share their experience with these guns, I am thinking of getting a bare bones model as an intro to .45. I understand they are made in China is this good or bad..........

I have owned 1911's for over 20yrs. I've cracked slides on several, after countless rounds down range. I have 2 norc 1911a1c's in my safe, I love these Chinese made firearms. I was really surprised at the groups I can get with a 4 or 5 hundred dollar gun.
Do not listen to these norc hating people, they are ill informed.

Got my stock 1911 Norc (Police Model) gently used from the EE earlier this year and aside from recently changing the flat sear spring, its internals are stock. Am with you in that, get your .45 in "stock" form and enjoy learning how it works and fires. Once you have figured it out (after a couple hundred rounds) then you can decide what to do with it next. Its at that point where any mods/improvements made will be much more appreciated.
This "made in China" 1911 is as tough as they come. Since CCW is not possible in Canada, I'd suggest you opt for a full size model (5") rather than the Commander version. Stock to stock, it will group better at 25 mtrs.
For your first 1911, your definitely on the right track!!!! Beware though, after mastering it, one 1911 will not be enough. Good luck shopping and post pics. Happy shooting!!!

It is an Armco tuned Norc with a stainless bushing.
The slide is very nicely blued, and polished.
Joe Dlask was impressed with the build quality.
The only thing I didn't like about it is the sights are small, and hard to get a fast fix on.
Trigger is great!
So I am trading it back to Gunnar for one of his new ones...
I like the looks of these ones better. The small parts are parkerized, and stand off nicely against the bluing of the frame, and slide.
I like the new squared trigger guard, the checkered backstrap, and the front slide serrations.
The sights are greatly improved, and it looks as though you could one hand it now, if you needed to.

meh. it goes bang, but feels crude doing it. really bad stock trigger, new sights on Commander are ugly and blocky (and square trigger guard probably won't fit plastic / kydex holsters). it's cheap, and looks n feels it. it goes for around $350, but don't kid yourself and think that the chinese put in $345 worth of parts & labour into it.
but it's a good way to check out and evaluate the 1911 platform overall, and find out if you even want to continue shooting .45ACP or not.

I recently picked up a late gen Armco tuned Norc 1911A1 Government model. Traditional plain jane, single stack, no fancy tail/trigger/hammer, 5"bbl ('cause that's the I like it) I have had no problems blasting Wolf reloads.
For the money spent I cannot say anything bad about this pistol. The blueing is even actually nice. The only thing that makes it look cheap imo are the markings on the frame eg. made in china/ imported by norinco.
The only mod I did was add a drop of my wife's glowing orange nail polish on the front sight to replace the drab yellow. Works great with the two rear white dots.
Also, the mags are cheap ($12.95?) at Marstar...at least for the Government model, and they work fine. My only complaint is the mags hold 7. With 7 mags loaded I'm left with 1rnd

I have the Norinco M-1911A1 'Government' (Parkerized) .45 ACP. It shoots well but I don't think much of the parkerizing. I had a Colt version and it was better.
For the money, I think these are fine guns. You can start out barebones and then spend as much as you want to make them look and shoot better.

norc 1911a1. I bought one off the ee a while ago, it was tuned by someone, can't remember who, and I LIKE it! Had the usual break in pains ftfeed ftfire but after a few hundred down the pipe it is good. I should mention that I handcast bullets and reload, so most likely it was tuning the loads to the gun.
Think of it this way you can buy a norc for 349.00 and 700.00 of ammo and shoot the crap out of it, or a 1200.00 kimber and two boxes of ammo and,, well you get the picture.
