I've been in the market for a norinco 1911A1 for awhile, I'm looking for the one without the norinco or China markings but I heard they were not being imported anymore. I put a WTB add up on EE but since all the ads arnt together anymore it's useless. Does anybody know any stores that still have them in stock or where I should try. Cheers rebel

These no name Norcs are old ones, made some time ago. The fit and finish of a modern one is much better.

If you want a good shooter, but a new model.

If you want a frame and slide to work on, the clean one is ok. I have a half dozen of each. I used the clean ones to make things like a 7.62x25 and a 460 Rowland.

A write up on how to turn the 1911 into 7.62x25 would be very interesting along with the 460! I only have two of the DA 1911 commanders and they are not quite as smooth as my unmarked one, but, I have only put about 75-100 rounds through the commander two tone. They seem to have some tight spots racking the slide, any hints on a fix? Or just run another 500 rounds through it! Both are accurate for a stock 1911. Of all the handguns I have handled, the 1911 followed by the Polish TT33 fit my hand the best!

Conversion is dead simple. Just swap out the barrel.

For the 7.62, a 1911 in 9mm is required. A 38 Super mag is required.

With the 460 Rowland, a recoil spring change is required. The kit includes the heavy spring.
