Norinco 1911A1 Cold Blue Slide

That looks great and your timing is good too since I hope to be doing the same thing soon.

I'm curious why you say you would try to do it without removing the factory finish? Wouldn't the roughness show through?

Internals are rougher, but the outside is surprisingly nice on newer Norcs. Great guns.

A good bluing job needs a great polishing job prior to the bluing and it looks like you achieved that part of it!

A good blueing job also needs good steel to take the polish, and we've always known that the Norcs are good steel. Excellent work! These pistols are made from some of the best gun steel out there, witha little care and attention they easily LOOK like they are. I've thought of having mine rust blued, now you got me thinking again.

that is what i would like to know, i think that the amount of burnishing required may do a good job of this. that and it is still black (maybe, depends on the durability of the original norc finish) may take less applications to achieve the gloss look. lots and lots of burnishing for me to get the metal to darken from a polished state. i added another picture, it shows more of a mirror like look to it.

thanks guys.

Here's a great idea!

I think we need a few pics of your wife holding it so we can better judge the quality of your craftsmanship. You know, perhaps wearing the leather vest, the bikini, etc. Just to give it some....err....context....

Seriously, nice job.

And seriously, post pics of it with your wife.;)

Nice job!!!
